Hostelz.com Guest Reviews

Quite Disappointing We spent a few days here just before Christmas and were quite disappointed after the positive reviews we'd read. The hostel is well maintained and in good condition, but on our visit there were a large number of long term residents and the dorm, which would've been cramped anyway, was very messy, with other backpackers having taken over most the available storage space and using the area around our beds as well. It also meant that the atmosphere was quite cliquey. As someone already mentioned, the hostel is quite far out of the CBD. We knew this when we booked and were ok about it, but getting back at night requires walking through a poorly lit area, so not ideal for solo travelers. The reception hours are very limited-just a few in the morning and a couple in the evening-so you're unable to access internet and travel services outside this time. Most frustrating was the fact that some of the information given to us regarding travel in the local area was completely wrong, something which almost ended up costing us a great deal of time and money. Overall a pretty disappointing experience and not recommended. — Emily , UK (2012-01-10)

Clean, a decent nights sleep, but boring overall this hostel was was one of the cleanest hostels i stayed in in perth. however it was very quiet. people kept themselves to themselves. and it lacked any decent social area where you could meet people. if you are after a nice clean, quiet place to chill out and read a book for a couple of days i'd recommend it. If you are here to meet people, to have a good time or enjoy yourself i would recommend another hostel. i have spent over 6 months backpacking around Australia and this is the least social hostel i stayed in. however that said your guaranteed a good nights sleep. — robbie , irish (2010-01-13)

Great place I think this must be the best place to stay in perth. It is a bit expensive but it is very nice and clean!! — Margit , norway (2009-04-26)

We loved this place. It's not full of idiot drunken backpackers but still has a good atmosphere, and it's really close to things-- five minutes' walk to Northbridge (great Vietnamese restaurants -- also try indian on corner) and it's a ten-minute walk to the station/city. It really doesn't deserve to be called a 'hostel' -- you wouldn't be disappointed if paid to stay here as a hotel. It's polished floorboards throughout, modern kitchen, fast internet. staff are excellent too. Highly recommended. — Clare + Rob (2006-10-26)

It's an ok place but is so far away from the action — we stayed 2 nights then got tired of the 20-minute walk down the busy road to Northbridge and 30 minutes to the city. It's not a good area for getting a bus even.
The place is clean and was pretty much empty when we were there. It's good if you want a hidey-hole for a quiet stay. — The travelling Spectre (2005-07-24)

This place is the best!!! The pictures on this site don't do it justice. It is efficiently run and very clean. Phillip, the owner, is extremely friendly and nice. He makes it a point to know everyone's name and make sure that you're ok. This place is quiet and when we were there it had guests who were considerate of others. Great place! I would highly recommend it to those visiting Perth. — Anonymous (2005-03-29)
