The Hostelz.com Review
Oki Doki Hostel is definitely a funky hostel situated right near the action. Part way from the old town and easily accessable by metro and tram, it is just a short walk from a new shopping plaza and nearby McDonalds! The hostel is housed in a building along with other businesses, so don't be suprised to think you are in the foyer of the wrong building. Up two flights of stairs, you will find the reception, which is often empty (the one staff member handles the bar and reception simultaneously). As one usually buzzes to get into the buidling, eventually someone will notice your presence.
The hostel offers very artistic rooms in an older building. Due to the age of the artworks, or maybe the building, the rooms can smell a bit musty (but the double glazed windows can be opened). The smell may also come from the fact that smoking is unfortunately allowed in the central common area, which means the whole place has smoky bad air. Hopefully they'll eventually catch up with the times and ban smoking inside.
Each room is themed, such as ours, which was decorated with lime green light shades, old swirled green and mustard wall paper, and lots of old oil paintings of landscapes. New metal-framed bunks and older single beds filled what was essentially two rooms in one, in the Kitsch room, housing seven. Other rooms are entirely one colour and feature chunky wooden bunks. Another was decorated with African photos strung as membranes on wooden frames, and had heavy single beds in wooden sleigh beds.
The bathrooms are situated on each floor, with two toilets and two showers. Be warned, the shower doors are glass with glass opaque white squares, so the shower opposite you can see clearly, and so does anyone at the sinks if one doesn't discover the sliding door to partion off the shower. The toilets have not been renovated as the showers have, and are in the back of the bathroom. Unfortunately, each wing has a bathroom. Whether you end up with the correct gender bathroom in the wing depends on luck. You may have to parade yourself to the other wing on the reception level of the hostel.
The bar is small but cosy, and suitable for the breakfast you must buy if you are not staying in a double room. It also provides beer and snacks. There is even a happy hour, with reduced prices on beers. The bar is only open til one p.m., and noise didn't seem to be a major problem at all. The hostel also offers two internet terminals on the landing, outside the bar. There is also a small kitchenette on the top floor, which is usually deserted, but offers all tea and coffee facilities and all cooking requirements. However, don't think you and a buddy can cook at one, it's way too small for that!
Aside from the bar, the hostel has a small collection of books and couches to the side of the reception/office, complete with nice lamps for the evening. They even have some games available. The hostel also offers a luggage room, with tags for a small level of control (hopefully to cut down on theft). The staff will also do your washing for a fee.

Excellent location Very good hostel in an excellent location in Warsaw, close to Train Station, Old Town, as well as the royal parks. It is situation above a bank, which has a 24 hour security guard, so you feel perfectly safe. The staff all were very friendly even when you arrive five hours before you are supposed to be checking in. The bedroom was clean with plenty of space, and there was plenty of showers/toilets so no need to ever have to queue. The bar was a little crowded/small, seemed to shut rather early (11pm) and a was a little smoky, but the beer was cheap (7 zloty for 2 during happy hour) and they showed the football, so can have no complaints. — Anonymous , United Kingdom (2010-06-26)

We had an awesome time in this hostel! Oki Doki is presumably one of the best hostels i stayed. Excellent Location, we could walk everything easily during our stay. Excellent sleeping conditions. Bed and sheets were really good, nice temperature, and silent surroundings. The bar is small and cosy, a bit smoky but a friendly environment with friendly staff. I can recommend this hostel to everybody. — Maarten , Dutch (2010-05-16)

Ok but i've seen better clean rooms, free internet, cheap, lockers with key, room key, lacking number of bathrooms, smoking allowed as I am a non smoker this did not sit well. — kevin , canada (2010-05-07)

Best Hostel I've visited! I stayed four nights with a group of friends in this very nice hostel. The staff is very friendly, helps you even with personal problems such as finding train connections. The rooms are very cosy but still offer enough space for the guests with luggage. The bathrooms were always clean and not crowded. They also offered privacy. There are big lockers in the rooms where you can put most of your luggage, not only some valuable things. What I liked a lot was the kitchen where we cooked and met other people. We even got free towels! The only thing that was chaotic was the breakfast. The room is just too small for many groups, but since the rest was so very nice, it didn't matter. The rest was very well organized. So, if you go to Warsaw, go to Oki Doki! — Angie , Germany (2007-08-24)

I stayed in this hostel easter for a couple of days back in 2005. I have to say that even though the outside looked a bit dodgy especially late at night, the hostel itself was quite good. At the time the reception was made out of a wooden facade. But It made it more funky! The internet was fine, and I don't remember paying for it. The staff was very friendly. Initially we booked for a dormitory, but there was a freaky old man, so my girlfriend asked the receptionist to put us in one of the private bedrooms, and it was just fantastic. Also had breakfast there and it was good. Overall clean, the rooms have their own atmosphere, I would recommend this place. it's one of the nicest hostels i've been in. — Ric , Portugal (2007-03-26)

One of the best hostels I've stayed at. friendly and patient staff, all with excellent English. a super cheap happy hour that gives you the chance to socialise with other guests. good kitchen facilities. it's smack bang in the city centre. But the best bit has to be the rooms -- the arty themes are brilliant plus theyre a decent size, clean, and well-equipped. Don't even think about staying anywhere else in Warsaw! — ruth_w (2006-08-16)

A really great hostel in a really great city. Free internet, a great reception, and helpful directions. Cheap beer and laundry and just a cool place to stay. — Dave (2006-08-16)

Fantastic place to stay, rooms are very clean. Location is central and easy to find. Staff are very friendly and could not be more helpful. — patsy (2006-08-09)

It's a nice and cosy hostel. Very close to the main train station. Rooms are clean. If you travel alone, go to the bar or common area, meet other travellers. The only bad thing for me is it took me a long time to check in because they only have one receptionist, and not always somebody at the reception. Other than that, it's great one! — Gillian (2006-07-05)

Absolutely awesome hostel! Great staff who were more than friendly and also more helpful than they needed to be. Great bar, where they have very cheap beer. On top of all this, the hostel itself is as centrally located as possible, and the staff tells you how to get to all the most interesting sites. This is definitely the best hostel I've ever stayed at, and I would highly recommend this over any other hostel, especially for those who are visiting Warsaw -- this place is unique; not just in how cool the interior design, but also in how great the hostel itself and staff is. — Tim (2006-06-17)

For a hostel, this place is truly amazing. The rooms are great (we had the magenta room), the staff are helpful, and the bar is great and plays excellent music. It's located in the middle of the city and any questions you have the staff are more than eager to help. Although you pay a little more than usual, if you like a little bit of comfort and funk in the place you're staying at – this one’s for you. The only negative is that you have to walk up to the third level to get there. However, once you reach it and see your room, you totally forget about that. — Mysz (2006-03-19)

This is by far one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at and I have been to plenty. The staff is very helpful and do what ever they can to help make your stay the best it can be. It is so clean, the rooms, the common area, the bathrooms, simply amazing. It is in a great location too. It you are coming to Warsaw and want the best hostel you can get, this is it. I will always stay here from now on when I come to Warsaw. — Josh (2005-12-31)

I walked in off the street with no booking and the only available room was a double ensuite which was lovely. I would reccomend pre-booking because this place is really popular and deservedly so. — Jerry Vernon (2005-12-07)

I strongly recommend this hostel for several reasons:
1) Excellent central location.
2) Extremely friendly staff — they will escort you to your room and give you a free map with a short orientation.
2) Convenient laundry service (they will do your laundry and return it to you on the same day or the next morning) for a nominal fee so you won't waste valuable sightseeing time.
4) Creative concept — each room has its own personal character with art.
5) Spotlessly clean (toilets, showers, and rooms).
6) Free Internet (there are a couple of computers available).
7) Pricing is relatively cheap by European standards.
8) No curfew — you ring the bell and someone will open the door for you.
9) Air-conditioned bar (very small, but you feel good in the tiny room).
10) There is a kitchen with good tables for meeting others.
The location would be the best thing. It's within walking distance to the airport bus stop and/or train station.
I would definitely recommend it. The pictures above look exactly like what I saw. Contact me if you have specific questions, I would love to give you details. — Jose Aguilar (josetravels@yahoo.com) (2005-09-12)

This is certainly quite a nice hostel, although hardly fantastic. The "free" Internet access was never free (read: always occupied and had a long line of people waiting) as they only had one working computer. The upper bunks were rather hot (even in early September) and the ceiling fan wasn't working; some people might also be bothered by the lack of privacy in the showers. Otherwise, a quite solid hostel. — Matija (2005-09-09)
