I really liked this hostel, partly because it was clean and comfy, but mainly because the owner was really friendly. Plus Murwillumbah is an interesting town because not many backpackers go there.

This is the nicest full-fledged hostel that I have been to in Australia, and it is one of the special ones on Planet Earth. It has super views looking over the Tweed River to Mt. Warning (Wollumbin to the Aboriginals). The hostel is in an old, old building right on the Tweed River, right in Murwillumbah's small central business district (which is home to some 39 Art Deco buildings — the unknown Art Deco capital of Oz). Excellent spot and area.

I first visited this hostel way back in 1985! Tassie is a very warm and wonderful guy who runs a great place. Take time out to visit this part of New South Wales - so much to see and experience. Good on ya, Tassie!

Oh - this hostel in Murwillumbah is truly a godsend! Smooth wooden floors, a verandah overlooking the river, a boat, floating tyres, a garden - if you need a relaxing break then you are the right person here. Tassie, the owner makes you feel like visiting old friends, the kitchen is always clean. And above all it is not boring here with the challenging climb of Mt. Warning. After that strenious day on the mountain tassie will most likely have a surprise for you - might it be a bbq, a non-birthday-cake or free ice cream. This place is HOME!
