Good
I've stayed in YHA melbourne back in 2001. So i always have good impression of YHA. They're clean and reliable, most importantly friendly and helpful. I stayed in a private room with toilet. Very satisfied with everything. The staff were very helpful and always with a big wide smile greeting us. I was there two weeks ago, stayed for two nights. So it's in the midst of winter season, the heater wasnt exactly working, so was rather chilly at night though. YHA is also situated at the hilltop, so can be quite a distance to walk and pull your luggage when you first come out of the train station at roma. But YHA is the best hostel compared to the rest along the roma street. Pleasant experience, thumbs up!

Clean and cheap and close to transport
This hostel is obviously in the final stages of renovations and looking pretty good. The reception area (at the moment) is just a rough, temporary corner office but the new reception desk should look great. The room I had, which was a private room without an en-suite was basic yet comfortable and the bathroom was clean and well maintained. I also liked the close proximity to the Roma Street Transit Centre. I look forward to future stays at this hostel.

Pretty good. Big, clean, although beginning to look a little worn. About ten minutes from Greyhound. Six bed dorms a little cramped.

Pretty nice, clean hostel, but big and thus pretty anonymous. Not too far from the CBD, either.

I stayed here for 5 weeks, and loved every minute of it. It's close to the transit center and CBD. The cafe serves gorgeous food and the staff are great.

Good hostel. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the Greyhound bus station and a bit further from the main center of town. Good facilities.

This hostel is in a decent location in a quieter part of the city away from the hustle, but it's close enough to walk to everything. I stayed here twice, and the rooms in the front building were definitely nicer. Plus the bathrooms were much better in the front building than those in the older-looking back building.

Nice hostel to stay in. We stayed for about 4 days. The kitchen area is pretty clean and there are enough showers and toilets. The laundry facilities are good too. It has a nice friendly atmoshpere and the staff are very nice. We met some very nice people there too.

Situated on a little rise in a quieter corner of the city, it's a bit of an uphill walk if you're fully loaded, but not bad really. Otherwise it is well within walking distance of activities. A small, colorful cafe is attached to the hostel which is run by very friendly folks who'll tell you their life story if you let them. The hostel is what a hostel should be: Neat, clean, orderly, airy and cheerful. Brisbane, of course, is little paradise on earth! Go there before it gets too big.
