The Hostelz.com Review
The Margaret River Lodge is a large backpackers set in spacious grounds. The accommodation is in two units. One block is self contained with a small kitchen, shower block, and lounge. The other block houses the pool, volley ball court, a larger kitchen/lounge, and the reception.

The double rooms are small and basic. The place is really laid back, almost bohemian. The place is clean enough but it is a bit unkempt.

The Lodge is on Railway Terrace, a quiet setting about 1.5 km away from the main street, The Bussell Highway. Railway Terrace runs parallel to the Highway, just turn down Walcliff Road and the YHA is on your left. The hostel runs a shuttle bus into town or you can take a short cut across the playing fields opposite if you fancy a walk.

2 This is no longer a HI member according to the owner, although they do still do YHA discount. The rooms need renovating. They are dingy dorms with concrete floors and rickety beds. Also, it's a trek to the communal bathrooms, which are insect-infested at night as they don't have an outside door and silly people leave the light on. However, the hostel was secure, it had a pool and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Also, the bike hire and other stuff are a good value if you have the time!

4 I like to stay here when going south on an adventure, and memorably once with my middle brother Brendon ;-) The fireplace has warmed my feet, and the rammed-earth cottages are nice. They are more than pleasant; they're cozy. This is a place to stay when you want to feel snuggly. It's not the closest place to town, but if you've got wheels and you want to be snug, this is the money.

3 We stayed at the lodge and thought the staff were extremely nice. The outdoors were also very nice, however I think that a bit of renovation is needed inside the dormitory. Overall, it was perfect for those who want both the beach and town life because it was not too far from either.

5 This was the first hostel I ever stayed at and I loved it. It was close enough to the shops etc, quite clean and the staff were really friendly. We met heaps of really nice people there and enjoyed just relaxing round the pool area. The only thing it has going against it is that it's about a 5 - 10 minute drive to the beach. But there may be buses near by - I'm not sure on that one, we had a car so it wasn't a problem for us.

5 My friends and I stayed in this lodge over the Margaret River Masters Weekend. We really enjoyed our stay and had lots of fun. We are hoping to make another booking this year for the weekend coming up.
