The Hostelz.com Review
You cannot get lost looking for Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort YHA, as once you get past Denham it is at the end of the only road on the peninsula. If arriving by bus, you will be dropped right at reception. It is a large resort complex with backpacker accommodation. Our bus arrived late at around 11:15 p.m., but there were staff there to help us. As it turned out there was a mistake with rooms, but it all got sorted out without too much trouble. Reception is open until around 8 p.m. most days for enquiries and for booking tours.
The kitchen facilities are good and the kitchen itself is massive with lots of seating. If you do not have your own cooking utensils you have to get them on loan from the reception. This applies equally for pots and pans as it does for cups, plates, and cutlery. This was a surprise -- this is the first place we have ever been to that does this.
As for the hostel itself it was cleaned regularly. If you do not want to cook, there is a bar and cafe on the complex. Internet access is available when it's working, and the machines are coin-operated. The same applies to the laundry rooms, of which there are at least three. We did not see a television room although we didn't look too hard for it. Like most people, we came here to see the dolphins, not watch television. There is a tennis court here if you like sports. Snorkeling equipment can be hired also, as can glass-bottomed boats and kayaks.
