HI - Sydney - Sydney Beachouse YHA, Collaroy Hostel is conveniently located within walking distance to the bus stop, pharmacy, pub, and shops.
The Location
It is five minutes' walk to the Collaroy beach. If coming here by car, there is on-street parking, but beware that it can be difficult to find a parking spot!
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel has two levels, with the bottom level of the reception as you walk in and the bedrooms. The top floor has more bedrooms, common room, kitchen, and a large deck with a small swimming pool.
The rooms are clean, with basic essentials like mattress, pillows, and doona. The hostel has beautifully decorated walls with signs to the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and other common space with the beach theme. There is a mirror in the bedroom and security lockers.
The bathrooms are clean and large, with one at each end of the hostel on each level. Each bathroom has a section containing the showers and the other section has the toilets. In between these sections is an area with vanity sinks and a large mirror, which is very useful.
Common Spaces
As you walk into the hostel, there are a few computers with internet available. There is a small game and a lounge room on the top level. Next to the gaming and lounge rooms is a very large kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is very clean and has utensils that you could use for free whilst staying at this hostel. The dining room is large, with lots of chairs and tables. There is a deck with a small swimming pool, which is located next to the dining room. The deck has a table and two long, bench-type chairs with sun shade. There is a BBQ set here that can be used.

The receptionist is very friendly and helpful. Next to the reception is an area with brochures and maps that you could look at or take for free -- very helpful if you don't know the area or want to know what's on in Collaroy and the Northern Beaches. There are free hire of bikes and kayaks, which is a plus for travelers or those coming here for a weekend holiday.

relaxed it is a friendly relaxed hostel but when booking from abroad be aware that the hostel is not near central sydney but about 45 min on bus. the beach opp is gorgous and it is a great location for a relaxing few weeks but not a party hostel and it doesnt have things going on everynight. the hostel itself is clean and staff are friendly we had no complaints — laura , England (2008-01-15) Clean and Quiet It depends what you're looking for. If you are looking for a party hostel, this isn't your place. They have poker night, and trivia night, and bingo night for getting to know other people staying at the hostel, but there are just so many people. However, if you are looking for a clean, quiet place to stay while vacationing on the beach, this is the place. It's a very friendly an nice atmosphere there. A lot of young people are here and so it takes a lot of parties in the Surfrock.
