1  Poor, avoid it I booked a four bed place for four people in Edinburgh. I called the manager twice prior to my arrival to check whether we were getting the right room (the last call was on Friday night -- around ten hours before our arrival) as we did not want to share it with other people. When we arrived it turned out we were suposed to share our room with two other people and when I saw them and amount of alcohol they purchased I felt that our health and safety was at risk and decided not to stay there. The amount for the place was debited from my account obviously. I called the manager and he says this is not his fault, could not explain what change happened overnight and said it was not an expensive hotel, I knew what sort of place that was so I should have expected wonders. I went to a nearby B&B and the person who runs the place used to work for this manager and claims this is a usual practice in that place and people are often placed in corridors as well.  , Poland ()
1  I went to this hostel in December 2004. Its location is perfect, right on the busiest street with lots of shops. But I think you can find other nice hostels with the same price and good location, because Edinburgh is not a very big city. The hostel was not good at all for me, honestly. First, I had to share a four-bed dorm with a strange guy (I'm a female). It was not very comfortable thing for me. Second, the shower facilities are not good at all. I think they are not cleaned well and the water pressure is not strong enough to take a quick shower. Sometimes it was flooded and filthy, as people don't remove their own hair! Third, I couldn't sleep at all at night because of noise outside. In addition to the noise of cars running, some drunken people shouted and sang songs all night on the street. Finally, it was quite cold at night, although the heater was working. I slept with socks and a warm sweater on. I felt miserable and even caught a cold.  ()
