We were looking for a cheap bed for a couple of nights and tried Kimberley Croc Backpackers because were told that it was awesome -- it did turn out to be. Phil, the guy who owns this place, picked us up from the Greyhound bus stop. He was there waiting for us as we arranged it online. It only took five minutes, though, and we could have walked it if we needed to. It is almost in the centre of the town and very close to all the shops and cafes.
There are dorms and double rooms here, with ensuites and shared bathrooms. Everything is clean and they have the most organised kitchen we have ever seen. Everything is laid out neatly and easy to find -- and plenty of utensils and pots and pans. Plates, cups, and cutlery have to be rented from reception, but you get the deposit back when you hand them in. Our one gripe about the kitchen is the microwaves -- there are two of them, but one operates like a conventional oven and the other is excruciatingly slow. This kind of defeats the objective of a microwave.
Absolutely everything else is great, though. There is a superb pool in the centre of the accommodation. There are facilities available to do your washing should you need it. Each level has its own shared bathrooms and separate toilets, all cleaned regularly. Reception are very helpful and suggest tours and walks around the village.
This place is a YHA and therefore very popular. It has been totally full the whole time during our stay, but it is a large place and it never seemed crowded at any point. Internet is available at the hostel also at a per-hour cost. You can't get it cheaper anywhere else in town, so you might as well use it there. There is also a TV lounge and an extensive range of books available to swap at an excellent price. This place is gorgeous and should we come back to Kununurra we will definitely stay here again.
