We came here as we were guaranteed work. That was kept up however the job wasn't for us, no thanks to the guy Tony who ran it being the harshest person ever. However this I could have handled but the town was just too hillbillyish for me. The hostel was ok although we were in a room of eight and everyone just walked round like depressed zombies due to the work. Naracoorte is in the middle of nowhere, if you like the Australian country fine, if not think twice, it's only when you get there you realise how far away you are from everything -- two buses and a train from Melbourne, totaling about nine hours and $70. — Michael (2007-01-15)
absolute crap hole, most unorganised place i've ever stayed in. the owners are full of sh*t and don't know what they are doing, and very rude. — jimmyorkshire (2006-08-11)

Without doubt the best hostel we stayed at in Australia, New Zealand or anywhere for that matter. Lived here for three months and met some of the nicest folk on the planet (many of whom i'm still friends with). Dave and Sonja took us under their wing and ensured we had work for the duration of our stay -- they also went above and beyond to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves to the full -- wine tasting trips, bonfire nights, trips to local (and sometimes far-flung) places of interest. This place was the highlight of our entire year's travel and provided more happy memories than any other destination we went to -- a real home from home. — Matt Fry (2006-04-12)
This place should be sued for false advertising. "Free Internet" — nope! "Free pool" — a broken pool table that you can't even play on. "Cozy lounge" — uncomfortable sofas, a broken heater and the smoke alarms don't work. There were mice, spiders and bedbugs everywhere, Red Back spiders in our room. We were told it would be sorted but never was. The most disorganized hostel I've ever stayed in. We were told there would be eight weeks work, and we spent all our cash getting there and found there was only ten days work and we had to leave when it was finished! The only redeeming factor was the cool next door neighbor, Tony — stay with him!! And the people we met there were lovely. We made some good friends and had some good times. — Anon (2005-09-08)

I stayed here for two nights. The bathrooms were old and dysfunctional, and the kitchen was grimy. Having said that, the bedroom was good and the lounge room was great with free Internet, DVD, PlayStation and large TV. Try "Billy Mac's" for a good cheap $7.50 dinner in Naracoorte. — RAC (2005-02-18)
This is by far the worst hotel I've ever visited. Everyone snuck in your room at night. — Shea (2004-11-01)
This place is full of inbred hillbillies that haven't got a clue about real life outside their small little town. The locals were so unfriendly and the one pub is separated into backpackers and locals. It was awful- the worst place I have stayed in Australia. — Anonymous (2004-09-16)

This hostel is more than a plae to lay your head. It is a place where you make friends to last a lifetime! You work, live and party with so many diverse people, and you really learn alot about who you are in this small world. I met my now have a husband there, and as Sonja will tell you, we also became a part of the Naracoorte family. Without a doubt, this was the best place that I have ever stayed on my journey around Australia. — Sabrina van der Stelt, Roberts Creek, Canada (2003-09-22)
