Friendly and welcoming The atmosphere of this former hotel is charming in a dusty way, as if time has stood still. Creaky floorboards; a long, wooden staircase; and a lazy friendly tomcat named Jet (supposed former owner of the place) add to the hostel experience, which would make for a great filming location (think The Adventures of Miss Marple). Big kitchen and common room with pool table, super friendly manager, and just an all around relaxed place to hang loose for awhile. Not many guests staying there in January, and my guess would be to schedule your visit pre- or post-lobster season, or the place gets crowded with people looking for a low budget accommodation while jobbing at the lobster factory.

I stayed here for just over a week and felt at home from the beginning. Not only did Kala and Ant help me look for work they also welcomed me like an old friend. The hostel is very charming and definitely has a special touch. I would recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to feel at home. Thanks again for everything you guys! Hope Steve's room is still bright blue and yellow!

I had a great stay here. It's a beautiful old building with a family feel about it. Ant and Carla are great hosts and couldn't do more for you. They are new owners and are busy decorating the whole place. It's clean and comfortable, on the beach and smack bang in the middle of town.
