The Hostelz.com Review
The Wheeler's Lodge lies just across the road from the Traveller's Lodge and as you guessed is owned by the same person. Look out for the sign and the entrance, which is actually via a lift to the second floor. Some friendly shopkeepers below will point the way if you can't find it.

Don't be fobbed off by the bottom entrance which is a bit grim. The Lodge is clean, friendly and nice. It doesn't quite have the facilities of the Traveller's Lodge but guests are welcome to cross the road and use things like internet and international calling facilities. Some may find this a bit inconvenient. There are some good tours run from here to places like the Batu Caves and Fireflies, although you can make your own way there as well. And if you want to chill out in the reception the common area is all air conditioned and you can sit back and watch a DVD movie at night with a ready supply of drinks in the fridge nearby.

It seems a more quiet and relaxed place than Traveller's Lodge, so it would be a good choice for traveller's who like their own space.

1  Bedbugs, poor service My wife and I checked into room number 107. It looked dingy, but we were tired from a long day on the train. We dropped our backpacks in the room and went out for a bite to eat. An hour later we returned to our room and found a bedbug scurrying across the mattress. We immediately went to reception and reported this. They offered to move us into the dorm room next door, which was equally as dingy. We said that we preferred to have our money back, and we were going to find another hostel. This set off an hour long standoff where they refused to give us a refund until we could talk directly to the manager. The manager was nowhere to be found and they refused to try to contact him. We went to the room to show the staff the bedbugs, which was of course nowhere to be found this time. At some point WE were accused of bringing the bedbugs and also told this is how things work in Malaysia. We eventually left this place without a refund and found wonderful accommodations down the street.  ()
5  Clean, comfortable, great value My wife and I stayed here at the end of two-month bicycle tour in SE Asia and we couldn't have found a better place! Great staff (Sri is especially cool!) and rooftop terrace that has free food some nights and beer for sale.  , USA ()
1  I had stayed in this place for three days, two nights. the place is the worst place i ever stayed during my trip to southeast asia. the rooms are fully covered by bedbugs.  ()
4  Good hostel in Chinatown so it's near the bus station, the markets, food stalls, shopping malls. It's clean with decent bathrooms. The staff are friendly and helpful and internet computers are available. My only complaint would be that some of the rooms don't have any windows so it was very difficult to wake up in the morning as there was no sunlight!  ()
4  Loved it. we stayed in KL for about a week, me being kind of sick and it felt a bit like home! The staff is great and helpful in every way!!!!!  ()
5  Great roof top sun terrace and free bbq, free from bedbugs.  ()
4  Me and my girlfriend stayed here for two weeks, and I can guarantee you that you gonna look for long before you find a hostel like this in KL! When we arrived early in the morning to KL after a ICE COLD trip on a bus from Kota Bharu and found this place, it was like heaven. The staff is brilliant, the area is interesting and all in all it is a oasis in a busy part of the city, You can go on the rooftop and chill (when we were there the rooftop wasnt finished - we helped them refurbish it) in this city that never sleeps, with a beer which is sold in the reception. And just across the street is the fabulous Reggae Bar where you can write your name on the wall and meet other backpackers. When we one day go back, we'll definitely stay here!!!  ()
