The Hostelz.com Review
Don't be confused with the Backpacker's Inn in Chinatown near the Swiss Inn. This one is opposite the main Pudaraya bus station on a really busy street -- there's lots of traffic and it can be hard to cross so take lots of care. Once you get into the backpacker's it's pretty quiet and the access to the bus station and the nearby metro make it pretty ideal. And if you want to wander into Chinatown it's about a two minute walk.

The owners of the Backpacker's Inn also run the KL City Lodge but it's better to stay here as KL gets a lot more local tourists. Most of the traveller's here spent time on the couches watching of all things "Days of our Lives" and similar American soaps. The management gives a deal to their restaurant which is mainly south Indian dishes and full of a similar crowd. It did not look very appetizing so I didn't eat here. Not many people from the guesthouse seemed to either as there's so much other variety out on the street anyway.

The bathrooms here are amongst the cleanest I've seen in hostels in most parts of the world, even a lot of the private rooms have shared bathroom facilities so if you've got any irks about common facilities there's not much to worry about. They also have a bit of a rooftop area but it's mostly plastic chairs although the views are okay. Some people hang out here at night, it's a good spot to read, have some Malaysian beer or gaze at the view.

1  FILTHY Arrived in KL at Puduraya bus station at midnight. I was tired having spent over 30hrs traveling to KL from Bangkok. All I wanted to do was get a good nights sleep. First thing I saw after arriving at puduraya was their Anuja Backpackers Inn sign. I asked for a room just for the night & was charged 40RM (pretty expensive if you ask me). Place was really loud & I had trouble sleeping in the private room I got. There were a lot of locals staying there, didn't see any other backpackers. With all the noise I kept thinking someone was going to break into my room during the night. Sheets looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. In the morning I got up to use their bathroom. It was the filthiest bathroom I had ever seen & I use to be a janitor. I dont understand how they could let it get that filthy. As soon as I packed my things I checked out of there right away. Definitely dont stay here. There are cheaper & better hostels/guesthouses just a few blocks away.  , Los Angeles, USA ()
4  I miss the place! We stayed there for about a month i guess. The place is not that big but the amenities are good especially the viewing area at the roof. We got the chance to meet a lot of friends here.  , filipina ()
3  The location of this hostel is really good. It's in a really busy area, within walking distance of Chinatown, and right opposite the bus station. However, my room was really noisy, and I definitely needed ear plugs to sleep. The room seemed clean, but the bathrooms were awful — I felt cleaner before I went in them! A double room was RM30 (Malaysian ringgits) per night with a fan and shared (dirty) bathroom facilities. There was a TV in a main lounge area where lots of people tended to sit in the evenings, so it was a good place to meet people.  ()
2  The location was not bad. The hostel was noisy; the bathrooms were dirty and in bad condition, and the linen on the beds seemed to be used. The room was either very hot and quiet, or freezing and loud. The receptionist was friendly.  ()
2  This hostel looks a bit like a popular hangout for locals. However, there are a lot of rooms and there is a rooftop garden on which you can watch the movies playing at night. The problem is that the beds are not that clean, and the bathrooms are really dirty.  ()
3  Nice, but should be more attractive.  ()
