The hostel manager robbed me and treated me in a racist way!
Hostel Alex 30 is the worst hostel I have ever been (for a thirty-two-year-old backpacker!). Worst meaning you must pay before even seeing the room or apartment, the sheets are not clean, you have to pay for a hand towel (1€), bad towel (3€), the tv-remote control (2€), for watching the tv (2€), etc. All without having checkout the room first. A complaint (such as please, give me clean sheets because there is human sperm in my sheets) means that you are not allow to stay in the hostel and get no money back for already paid nights. You end up in the streets, having paid for a hostel but not allowed to stay. The police has no business to do with it. All you can do is write a complain to the Justice Ministerium and since you are not a German resident, it will not be follow. Sincerely, avoid Hostel Alex 30!

Excellent hostel, but it is more like a hotel and it costs about the same. The staff were super friendly and the hostel was extremely clean!! If you need a break from the crowded dorm room scene at other hostels, then I suggest getting a fantastic room at this hostel instead. Plus, the tram and U-bahn are right across the street or around the corner. You cannot say that about the other hostels.
