Helicharter Backpackers is a clean, convenient place to overnight.
The Location
This hostel is only about ten minutes from the airport, and a few blocks from the main beach area and restaurants in Port Elizabeth, and yet it is situated on a quieter street. There is some parking for cars available but make sure that you can get out when you have to leave early in the morning. It doesn't seem very safe to walk at night, but best to ask those who live there.
Rooms and Bathrooms
This is a smallish hostel where accommodation type varies from dorms to private rooms with shared bathrooms in the main house and three wooden cottages outside that also provides private rooms with shared facilities. It is clean, the outside rooms have fans, and the inside private rooms have TVs.
Common Spaces
The kitchen relatively big and well equipped. The lounge is comfortable and adjacent to the pool table. There is also a small deck/veranda outside. The place is very laid back, and not noisy at all. They also seem to offer student accommodation, so we're not sure how many of those staying the night are actually travelers.
Summary
This is a great, cheap place to overnight if you want to be near an airport.
