Meghalaya is lovely & Shillong is a great place to escape to especially in the summers, so do come & explore this quaint hill-town, the gateway to the North East of India!
Vivekananda Marg Shillong is the name of the road where it is located but it can be confusing for most travellers to reach the place as the road is not commonly known by that name. It would be best to ask a taxi driver to take the road to All Saint's Church/hall, or near the Secretariat, which is barely 2 minutes away from the hostel.
The hostel is quite basic but seems to have been refurbished recently & has dorms & guest rooms. It's not bad as it's very well located, and in the heart of the town-ie.Police Bazaar & near the State Museum,Secretariat, Ward Lake,the Central Post office,Governor's House, hotels, restaurants & banks.One can reach the hostel very easily from Civil Hospital point, Barik, the MTDC (Meghalaya State transport bus stop)& cabs are very cheap (& abundant), in the city. However, if one wishes to enjoy the peace & quiet of Shillong, the hostel might be considered a little noisy.Not a bad place for students on a budget, but there are cheap guest houses & hotels all over! — Pragya (2006-01-17)
