Wakkanai Moshiripa Hostel, a relaxing, middle-sized hostel, is located a five-minute walk from the train/bus station and about the same distance from the ferry quay. Check in is only until eight p.m. so make sure to get there in time or make arrangements with the staff. Additionally there is a ten-thirty curfew. Staff is friendly and helpful with ferry/train information and restaurant suggestions.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable, as are the beds. There are nice big open common areas on each floor in addition to the one downstairs, and reading rooms with manga and magazines. Toilets are clean, face-washing sinks are large and clean, and the bathing facilities are quite nice. They close the bathing area promptly at the stated time each evening so make sure to get in before then. Soap and shampoo are provided.
Hostel meals are quite adequate although there are also a good number of interesting options in this town, particularly for seafood. The hostel is a very restful and convenient place to stay in a quaint, interesting town that connects Hokkaido to the islands of Reshiri-to and Rebun-to.

Just another YHA Hostel The hostel is clean and quiet, but it didn't really stand out for me. It's just another YHA hostel with the usual curfew and rules. Dinner and breakfast are available (extra cost) and there are some other accessories on sale via the honor's system. It's walking distance from the train station and ferry terminal, so if you're just staying here as a stopover to/from Rishiri or Rebun, then it's more than adequate.
