Description
Beppu Youth Hostel is located in Beppu, one of the world's largest hot spring areas. It welcomes backpackers from all across the globe!!
The youth hostel is a melting pot all throughout the year. In June 2002, we moved from the traditional Kankaiji area to Nakajimacho, a new place for history in Beppu. Now it is easier access to sightseeing, as it serves as the entrance to the eastern side of Beppu. We are located in Oita prefecture, a 15 minute walk from Beppu Station. There are a great many places to enjoy sightseeing just in the Beppu city area including the most unusual and famous attraction known as the Beppu Jigoku tour of the 9 natural steaming hot springs. Beppu is surrounded by both the waters and the mountains, allowing you to enjoy a variety of sports such as tennis, golf, skiing, snowboarding, fishing and hiking.
You will have a choice of staying in a Japanese-style or a Western-style room. There is a Laundromat, drink bar, and vending machine available to all. Internet is also available at extra charge.
Check-in is from 3pm and checkout is until 9:30am.
Last check-in is at 11pm.
Breakfast (525yen) can be ordered at the time of your check-in.
Have a relaxing bath time by trying our hot spring baths. There is also an outdoor bath available for family use.
Beppu is known to be one of Japan's popular hot spring cities. The highlight of your trip to Beppu would most probably be the Beppu Jigoku (Hells) tour to 9 natural steaming hot springs or 'burning hells' as they are called. There is no other hot spring area in Japan that discharges so much hot spring water. It's only 30 minutes by bus from Beppu Station. If you want to experience the nature offered by Beppu, visit Takasakiyama Natural Zoo, the habitat of wild Japanese monkeys. Enjoy the great outdoors at Shidakako Lake, located at 600 meters above sea level, and Kagurameko Lake surrounded by irises in every mid June. Both are ideal places for picnicking. Have a look at the breathtaking panorama view from Mount Tsurumidake. The Beppu Ropeway will take you up to an elevation of 1375m where you will witness the seasonal changes offered by Beppu's nature.
There is also African Safari, a natural zoo of more than 1300 animals located on Ajimu Plateau. Your encounter with land animals can be followed by a visit to see some sea animals at Oita Marine Palace Aquarium 'Umitamago', where the loveable sea otters are everyone's favorite. If you want to have an experience of a lifetime on some rides, Kijima Korakuen Amusement Park is definitely one great recommendation. It is located in Aso-kuju National Park and features Japan's first wooden roller coaster and offers a chance to try bungee jumping!
