The Hostelz.com Review
This is a large hostel in a busy part of the city. On the positive side, the beds are single beds, not bunkbeds as in most hostels, and the rooms are spacious and clean. On the negative side, if you're not a smoker, or even if you're a smoker who doesn't like to sleep in a smoky room, you might want to avoid this hostel. They allow smoking in the bedrooms and there are no nonsmoking rooms offerred.

The guests seem to be mostly Czech and German. There is a tiny common area with a TV, but it's usually mosty empty except for the hostel's owner. There are also small common sitting areas on each floor. Discount for HI members.

Good location, nice staff
The place is good, the beds are ok, it is clean, the showers are no so good, but the staff is very nice. the breakfast is good, free internet, cheap beer at the pub next to it, very calm. I recommend it.

I stayed at this hostel on easter weekend 2007. Very nice place, helpful staff, good shower. It is a little bit of a walk from Old Town Square, and the hostel itself is not very sociable. I was hoping to meet some people while there, but a small TV room with two computers does not make for the ideal hangout. All amenities at this hostel are great, shower is strong and hot, breakfast not great but it gets the job done. I would recommend staying here if it is the closest you are to Old Town, but plan your day wisely so you are not killing yourself walking to and from more than once or twice a day. All in all a very nice hostel, just not great for meeting people or being right at the heart of Old Town.

Fantastic location just one and a half blocks south of I. P. Pavlova metro and tram stops. While on a busy street, the noise was not a problem for sleeping. The area has lots of folks walking at all hours, making is feel safe. The free twenty minutes of internet access at a time on two computers in a small lounge which also has TV, was a nice treat. I found a few folks hanging out in this lounge, but more folks chatting in the self-service kitchen upstairs. Clean, firm mattresses, which can handle a large guy. Bathrooms were never crowded, were clean. Hot water was adequate, but sometimes the temperature fluctuates a little, never to the point of scalding or freezing, though. Breakfast is a buffet, and includes cheese, meat, cereals, juice, tea, milk, coffee, jam, butter, a couple of types of bread. Plenty. The restaurant adjacent is independent, but has large lunches for less than $5. A laundry on Krakowska street nearby washed and folded my dirty clothes for me. Folks at the desk are not native English speakers, but you can figure out what they are saying. The desk sells water, Cokes, ice cream. I did not see many Czech guests. British, Australian, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, a French school group one night, some German girls. About 60% women, and most folks were in their twenties.

This hostel has everything I expected and a little bit more. New colored rooms, restaurant with the cheap beer, free internet access, frienly staff, clean rooms and showers, single beds (not only bunk), excellent location and very good price. The atmosphere is great. What else need the single backpacker? It was a good choice, believe me.

This hostel is well located but that's about it. The rooms have ugly paint jobs on the walls and are very humid and muggy. (My clothes couldn't dry.) There is only one computer with free Internet. It's very difficult to get access to it. The receptionist was not the most friendly and helpful person. Try somewhere else. But if you're stuck this place is ok, I guess.

Advantages: this place is close to the subway, and there is a Jidelna (local place offering cheap food) across the street. The breakfast is okay — at least it's a buffet and you can even pack your lunch here. There is one computer with free Internet access. Disadvantages: we stayed in a double room facing the main street. It was very noisy and we had to close the windows at night; otherwise it was too noisy to sleep. There is not even a desk in the room. The bathroom is the most horrible place. Well, it's generally clean but there is no privacy. You can't lock the door because the shower and toilet are in the same room. People can walk in while you're out of the shower and putting on your clothes. There is no hook at all to hang towels or clothes. The staff are okay.

I was really unimpressed with this hostel. The rooms were freezing (I was there for New Year) and stank of stale cigarette smoke. The reception staff were pretty unfriendly, despite my repeated attempts to make polite conversation. There is only one computer with internet and it doesn't work most of the time, particularly for hotmail users. The shower curtains are so see through they may as well not exist - paricularly a problem when guys are walking past the open door to the bathroom all the time to get to their rooms! I still managed to enjoy myself, primarly because of the people I met and because of the fantastic (and so cheap) food in the next-door restaurant (definitely recommended), but I won't be staying here again.

It isn't bad, but not great either. The rooms are clean but a bit dreary and the staff aren't that friendly, either. The bathrooms are ok, but the showers lend absolutely no privacy. The good, cheap restaurant underneath is a bonus, however.

The location of this hostel is great, only two stops from the train station. The staff is very friendly, and they gave us advice and directions to different places in town. There is a computer with free internet. The rooms and the bathrooms are very clean and nice. The restaurant downstairs serves the best food I had in Prague.

I stayed here for four nights in July, 2003. The rooms are simple but clean. The staff was very helpful, and breakfast was very good (when I was able to get up for it). The resturant in the basement is the best thing about this hostel, other than the location.

I stayed in this hostel March 2004. It was okay, not a place that people just hang out in though. There's a lot of construction still going on so only one bathroom n stuff, but it's clean and big and the beds are fine (pillows a bit lumpy!). But it has a lovely cheap resturant underneath and is bang on the centre of Prague!

December 2003
I stayed for 3 nights in December 2003. It was friendly, clean, warm, close to the metro/tram. The restaurant in the basement was an excellent value for the money, food freshly cooked. There's also a good workers' cafe on the corner of Legerova for those on an even tighter budget. Overall a great base to explore Prague from.
