Very, very nice! The Jana House was an exceptionally nice place to stay. The whole facility is clean and well-kept, with nice hardwood floors, comfy and clean rooms, and particularly nice bathrooms. There's a good-sized and well-stocked kitchen and a huge lounge area with couches, TVs, and a selection of books. Bob, the owner, was very helpful and diligent. If I return to that area, I will stay there again without hesitation. I recommend Jana House highly to singles and families alike.

Exceptionally clean, safe, roomy, and affordable My brother and I stayed at four hostels in our week in Anchorage and the Kenai area. Jana House was the best hands down. The owner was helpful and nice. The hostel was extremely clean and safe. It has a full kitchen, laundry area, and more areas to relax and read or watch TV in than you can use. We paid $55 for a private room with two queen sized beds and a thermostat that controlled the temps in our room. I think the lowest price we could find in the area for a hotel was around $70 bucks for a dive. A decent hotel in the area was well over $100. I would even recommend this hostel for families traveling in this area. A positive experience for sure. I would definitely return.

I found the owner quite pleasant! He was happy to share advice on where to visit. There are several area to socialize and was happy to see the satellite to keep up news from my country. Facilities were clean and modern. Linens were provided. I felt safe and welcome and would recommend the establishment.

The host is a jerk. He wouldn't take reservations six months in advance. He wouldn't take reservations two months in advance. Then he had the gall to complain when we showed up that we hadn't given him any notice and that he had no room. We had just walked through his place and found many empty beds -- and nobody around anywhere. (We got through to the guy by phone.)

Jana House is unique, clean, modern, and huge. The host is nice.
The bathrooms are incredibly large. I'm not sure about transportation to and from the hostel, since I arrived by car. The host mentioned that some of the oil rig people stay there once in awhile, but that does not seem to be a problem. The lounges are big and furnished comfotably, as is the cooking area. I would stay there again.
