1 Nasty from top to bottom. Fits well with the managers attitude..
I gave Floyds one star only because the roof didn't leak. I've stayed in hostels all over the world and this place is the worst! The pictures are deceiving! The rooms look nothing like them now. The place is a rundown dump! They're cleaning up the outside but the inside is where they need cleanliness. The lady who runs the place couldn't run a chinese fire drill. She is rude to everyone. The guys who sit outside and drink all day could do a better job running the place. No wonder they are usually half full. What happened to the customer is always right? Her daughter cleans the place on weekends. I guess she got her talents or shall I say lack of from her mother. Word to the wise, Stay Away or leave with bedbugs!

3 Great networking tool, people from everywhere, best Time!
I spent just over a month living in Floyd's and had the best time ever! Jobs were easy to come by as people come to Floyd's to find day workers. I met friends I will keep for life and many other interesting folk too, from all over the world. Being at Floyd's was like having my very own American family. The BBQ Social Gatherings were an awesome networking tool as well as being fun and relaxing! My first ever American Thanksgiving was hosted by Floyd's and something I'll never forget. Floyd's was the very best time in Lauderdale and I hope to be back there again very soon.

1 A filthy scam
Went to Ft. Lauderdale to see a show and hang out for a few days. When I arrived the hostel looked pretty poor on the outside, but the office seemed alright. When we checked into our room it was disgusting. The mattresses were stained brown and had tons of holes in them. Our room had no doorknob. The were what appeared to be blood stains and other bodily fluids on our walls. There were bugs on the beds and in the bathtub. There was a gaping hole that someone had punched into the wall. After seeing the room I requested a refund of the non security deposit payment, and was given hell by the staff. The old woman who had checked me in adamantly refused to give me a refund and gave me quite a bit of attitude. I got circular answers when i demanded to speak to a manager or owner. Apparently this happens somewhat frequently at this hostel, so I have a feeling they make some of their money just denying refunds to very unhappy customers. You're better off checking into a hotel or motel, it will be close to as cheap and they won't give you a gross room or charge you for not staying there. You won't get an expensive and disgusting bedbug problem. Overall the worst hostel/hotel experience I have ever had, and I have stayed at many hostels throughout the world.

2 Awful
I only gave it two stars because the owners were not terrible and I didn't get eaten by bugs, but I would not recommend it to anyone! The lady I shared a room with gave me hell like she was getting paid for it. She tried to order me around to pick up my stuff while she smoked in our shared room and unloaded her insanity on me. The other people I met seemed equally terrible, but I avoided them. The place smells gross, my room smelled like a bathroom in jail. I had terrible nightmares. Don't do it!

3 Good, all things considered.
Wanna-be Crew abound. If you're looking for a yacht job don't listen to a thing they say. The bugs in your bed will be better informed. Owner nice if you pay your tab and keep quiet. Help out during hurricane season and earn a free night or two. Stay as long as you have to cause there ain't much better for the price, but get on a boat as fast as you can.

3 This is a crew house mate, liberal heart bleeders should stay in miami. The people here are off boats, their friendship has to be earned. Heard about sailors and how they swear? That's us.

5 Floyd's is awesome, this was the second year I stayed there (also in 2004) and I was pleased to find friendly faces when I arrived. I felt welcome from the second I arrived to the second I left. Bo is a really good guy and will take care of your every need, he really knows how to make people feel at home. He does his best vet all that stay there and the regulars are like a family. If you don't believe me, find out for yourself.

1 The manager, Hanas, is a complete arse hole. He takes your money and then kicks you out (he does this usually at night). He does not respect anyone. He acts like a Nazi guard and is uncomfortable to be around. There are also rats in the kitchens and the free computers should be boat anchors. The owner takes the money and runs. Floyd's hasn't been upgraded in years. Do yourself and your mates a favor and stay elsewhere.

5 Susan is fantastic. She will look after your every need, like having a mum or a friend away from home. I had some good times there organizing St Patrick's day and getting two kegs. We all got so smashed. It was the best experience, the only thing was that it wasn't advertised enough then. I heard about Floyd's while staying at the Banana Bungalow in Miami, just by word of mouth. I'll never regret going there. I met some pretty special and unique people. It was cheap and clean. It also had the Quarterdeck down the road that was good on Mondays with the cheap jugs and chicken wings for free. It's good to see the sights. I have sent a lot of people there myself. I suppose it's like anything; if it's good you let everyone know, and it was the best. Go on, I definitely recommend it. Everyone there is in the same boat, whether you stay long term or short term.

1 During the boating season the number of beds in this hostel/crew house jumps from 50 to almost 200. You are packed in like sardines and the owner, Ben the lawyer, only cares about getting his money. If you get screwed on work, even when it's provided by them, they do not care. However, when it comes to their money . . . Also, they rent to anyone!!! They rent to whomever has cash and they do not care who it is — thieves, drifters and scammers come through and rip off the clients. The owners don't care, but they pretend to. And then there are the bedbugs!!! I did two seasons at Floyds — thank God I got hired to work on a boat (with zero help from Floyds) because I could not have taken any more of their crap.

5 Floyd's Hostel is a classic hostel. It is a great place to go for working travelers, especially during the yacht season. I've been there three times and always met nice people, especially the friendly staff.

1 I had fun here, but the bugs in the beds are horrible. It's very dirty, and it seems like homeless people stay here.

4 It was as hot as hell in my room. There were some very interesting characters here. Lots of people stay here long term, looking for work on yachts. So it's not your typical crowd. I had a good time, overall.

5 There is free food (all-you-can-eat rice, beans, macaroni and cheese dinners, ramen noodles, and spaghetti) all day! There is a free dryer and a pay dryer. They have a high speed internet connection, free daytime pickup from the stations, and a beautiful tropical palm garden. Employers come by every day looking for workers.
