1   Unprofessional Unfortunately the Caro, Netherlands description is accurate. This is a very old man who should not be running a service-oriented business. We arrived to discover he had us booked three times for the same days under the same name. Dealing over the phone is almost impossible because he can't hear. In person proved to be equally inefficient. Even with his hearing aid, he really can't hear much at all without yelling and repeating everything. E-mail correspondence is misspelled and incoherent. His rules are not clearly outlined when you book, such as the strict no drinking policy and that you need to leave for the day as he may not be home to let you in. Yes, this is the cheapest accommodation in charlottetown, but save yourself the stress, pay a little extra, and find a better place.  , Canada ()
1   Very Bad As the HI hostel was fully booked I have booked this place because of the positive comment on this website. This place is really like hell. I would not recommend it to anyone. The people who run the place are too old to do this, but they still want to run it. You are not allowed to use the kitchen. The rooms are in the basement. Two rooms have a tiny window, but two others (I had one of those) don't even have a window. Because all the very old dark furniture it is very depressing in your room. You don't feel home or welcome at all. You don't get a key of the house so every time you get back you have to ring the doorbell and because the guy is almost deaf you can wait for ages. If you decided to stay at this place. Go to Charlottetown for dinner, stay there until 10 p.m. and go then to the hostel so you can go to sleep almost straight away. As you can't use the kitchen or living room you are stuck in your own depressing dark room.  , Netherlands ()
5   A great bargain! As a student traveler on a limited budget, I was pleasantly surprised with Gallant's Tourist Home in Charlottetown. I initially found the place through their website, which certainly does not do the place justice. Run by Mr. and Mrs. Gallant in their home, they have four clean and comfortable private rooms, with a shared bathroom and mini-fridge. Mr. Gallant was a gracious host and really cares about his guests. The place is located a little bit out of town (about two kilometers), which is probably why it gets overlooked by many travelers. But for $33 a night total for two people, we got a clean bed, hot showers, free transportation to and from town, and genuine PEI hospitality. You really can't ask for anything more.  , Canada ()
