Kaihu Farm is a special place on the way to the Kauri Forests about 20
minutes North of Dargaville. The hostel is on a small 14 acre farm, with hikes onsite through bush and farmland, including one to a glowworm dell on the property. There are clean and very comfortables dorms, doubles and twins available, with linen, duvets and pillows. From the building is a nice view of the surrounding country side. The building is kept spotlessly clean inside.
Outside there is a nice dining area with tables and chairs, and the kitchen inside is homey and well equipped, with farm fresh eggs available and home made meals in the freezer for purchase. There is a comfortable sitting room with games and a guitar. The room is also perfect for reading. Laundry and internet are also available.
There are free mountain bikes available to explore the surrounding country side, and the Kauri forests and coast are only a short drive away. This is a very comfortable place to stay, and the owners are friendly and helpful. Kaihu Farm Backpackers feels more like a home than a hostel.
