HI - Canmore Clubhouse Hostel's small dorm rooms offer more of a sense of privacy than other hostels. An excellent kitchen, common areas with fireplace and good reading selection, washrooms, showers, wimpy electric sauna, deck, laundry room, and internet computer make this one of the comfiest hostels in the Canadian Rockies.
The hostel has a beautiful location tucked away on a hillside just outside of Canmore. Reserve ahead and hosts will leave key and linens for late arrivals -- very helpful in the summer when days get so long and you want to make the most of the daylight.
The Canadian Rockies at your doorstep! What else do you need to know? For backpackers, the Alpine Club of Canada has provided helpful maps which include their extensive network of huts in the Rockies, as well as the latest information on trail conditions and such. Canmore and its yearly Music Festival are just a few blocks away, the touristy Banff town site a few miles to the west, and Calgary and its famous stampede a bit further to the east.
The price is a bit cheaper than Lake Louise or Jasper, but a bit more than the wilderness hostels in the area. It's still a great bargain. This is the most bang for the buck of any hostel anywhere. This is the place to come when you want to feel like you've returned to civilization after an epic backpacking trip!
