Kananaskis Country, on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies, offers recreation for any outdoor enthusiast. Celebrating its twenty-fifth year as an officially dedicated outdoor recreational area, Kananaskis offers over 4,000 square kilometers of foothills and mountains for exploration. Spring, summer and fall activities include mountain biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing and even golfing. Winter enthusiasts can enjoy cross-country or downhill skiing, ice climbing, ice fishing, and snowshoeing, among other activities.
The HI-Kananaskis Wilderness Hostel is a clean, warm, comfortable 38-bed facility with several private rooms available. There is a large kitchen and dining area as well as a cozy common area with fireplace.
HI members can recieve discounts on horseback riding and whitewater rafting in the summer. The hostel also offers guided hiking, biking and x-country ski lessons and tours, please inquire when booking.
