Description

Nobody knows exactly for which reason the head of a black race man decorates the armorial bearings of the city. What we know however is from where the ruins come: Aventicum was the largest and most important town of Switzerland at the time of the Romans. Today, this is the Middle Ages, the breeding of horses, very popular and famous, and two at the very least bold pioneers of the aviation which characterize the locality. Avenches is located between the vineyards of Vully and the plain of Broye which connects the Neuchâtel and Morat Lakes.
