Good place
This hostel has very few problems. I stayed in a double with my boyfriend. To start with negatives, there is a very steep hill up to it (not very nice with a backpack on). Also, the rooms get quite warm and all face onto the street, so with open windows it can be very noisy. Other than that I had no prob with this place, the room was nice, linen was clean. The toilets and showers were also very clean and tidy. Kitchen and common areas well equipped and spacious, staff very approachable. The sundeck is a nice addition.

Not the best start to a holiday ever, bit of a hike up Queen Street to get there, rooms basic but ok. staff -- some interested, some not. Bathroom situation on floor six -- odd to say the least, only things really going for it were the laundry which was ok and the internet access. In short for a long term stay look elsewhere, short term this is your place

We stayed here on four separate occasions through December 2004 to January 2005. The staff were very helpful and they booked all our hostels for one month while we walked around Auckland one afternoon. This place had basic double rooms but they were very comfortable. The kitchen was excellent and security was good in the evenings. A special shout-out to Tara for all her assistance when we needed help. A hostel must be good when you check out of another one early to go back there again, as we did on January 2nd after a bad experience elsewhere. This speaks volumes.

I stayed in this hostel in April 2004. I would not recommend it to anyone! It was filthy, especially the bathrooms. There were only one or two showers and the bathroom did not look like it had been cleaned in ages. Needless to say, I didn't even take a shower the next morning because I wasn't about to step foot in the shower. I brushed my teeth in the sink in the hallway. It is very loud being in the middle of the city; I didn't get much sleep. The hallways are very loud, too. The doors slam really hard. Two stars is my rating, and that is pushing it!
