The Hostelz.com Review
The Grey Corrie Lodge is a hostel behind the Roy Bridge Hotel that feels more like a self-catering facility than a hostel. Its scenic location is complimented by an attractive design with stone walls.

Reservations and check-in are done through the reception at the hotel, at which you are assigned a room, some of which come with keys. The bedrooms themselves are comfortable and clean, with their own basins, cupboards for storage, and air conditioners. Bedding is included.

The bathrooms, separated for guys and girls, are very clean, with electric showers that don't have a particularly strong stream but are definitely hot. The kitchen area is open with a food preparation area that includes standard kitchen amenities, but no standard foodstuffs like sugar. The hotel also provides a full morning breakfast for a small fee if you give them notice the previous evening. The hotel itself has a bar that is open till one a.m.

The hostel can be found by looking out for the white Roy Bridge Hotel on the main road through Roy Bridge, the A86 northeast of Fort William, just past Spean Bridge. The location of the hostel is fantastic for its view of Ben Nevis and its neighbouring mountains, although the town of Roy Bridge has little to offer. Fort William is about fifteen minutes away by car, so there is not much to see on foot apart from hiking the mountains.

Apart from an interminable fight with the midges (flying biting insects), the Grey Corrie is a pleasant place to stay, although it serves better as a launch pad to get out, rather than an experience itself.

Excellent
The roy bridge hotel is great -- the food, the staff, and the people who own it. they spend day and night to give you the best that they can. Go up there and enjoy!

The experience of this hostel depends a lot on who else is there at the time. It is largely unsupervised, and we found it very noisy with doors banging all night long, fire alarms being set off at 6 a.m., and limited cooking/eating space for a full hostel. The staff were helpful, but generally not around to sort out any problems.
