This place was great! Its pretty clean, comfortable, and there's a great park across the street to sit and read/eat lunch/nap. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they'll even charge your cellphone or camera batteries for you. There's no lift, but the hostel's within two brownstone-like townhouses, so there's some charm. There's a friendly cat living here as well. Definitely recommended!

This was my first hostel experience and it was a great one! I stayed here for 6 nights in March. It is a very good hostel, with a friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are big enough for 6 people and the showers are clean and private. The kitchen and dining room are also clean and nice to eat in. It has a beautiful location. I had a great time there and I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to come to Edinburgh!!!

I stayed here for seven nights. My initial impressions were not good — the dorm room was cramped and a bit too small for six beds, the bathrooms are not that great, and the basement self-catering kitchen and dining room is not for claustrophobic people. However, I am glad I stuck with it as I had a great time here. The lounge and reception area is very social and comfortable, and I met some really nice people whom I went out with exploring local nightlife. The location is well out of the town center, about a 15-minute walk form the bottom end of Princes Street, and regular buses go there. However, the shops and places to eat around the hostel were great. Parrots, which is close to the hostel, is one of my top restaurants ever, and a local deli sold chocolate croissants to die for! I found this to be a friendly hostel with a mainly travelling rather than long-term crowd.
