Scary, scary, scary hostel. Don't stay there, especially if you are a single girl. Very limited hours where you can check in and then the guy is kinda creepy, not too helpful, and don't bother looking for him after the four designated office hours. Beds are terrible, dirty, and stained. Some keys don't work, poor lighting, and there's no safe storage for luggage or valuables. Overall it's not a good-feeling place. I left after one night and even that was too long. My advice -- just go somewhere else! — Heather (2006-04-10)
The double room we had was spacious, but that was about the only good thing about this place. The shower and toilet were clean, but there was no door for the shower room, just a curtain. The kitchen was large, but full of insects (probably unexpectedly), and the fridge was always full. The pool table was expensive, but the table tennis was free. There was a small TV with a poor selection of DVDs. The owner was very unhelpful when it came to helping us with a loud man that was keeping us awake at night. At first, he said he would take care of it, but we ended up leaving and forfeiting a night's rent, because we couldn't take it anymore and the owner didn't seem to care. They had an offer when we went, making it cheaper if we stayed for 3 nights. If they still have that offer, don't take it, because it's not worth it! — Anon (2005-09-02)
This hostel is placed in a good location for bushwalking, especially for Barron Falls. However, the beds are pretty much all in one large room, and unless you get a bed on what used to be an enclosed veranda, the room is internal, with no windows through which to hear the birds! It's pretty run-down and in need of some loving renovation. It's very quiet, and great for a night or two of chilling, playing pool and sitting in the garden. — Anonymous (2004-08-28)
