The Hostelz.com Review
A big, well-equipped hostel with a nice bar. You will have no problem finding it, right on the esplanade of Hervey bay. It is quite central, with many stores and tour booking agencies nearby. However, like most places in town, it is not so close to the Urangan Jetty, where all the boats for Fraser island and for whale-watching cruises depart from. However, in most cases, pick-up can be arranged.

The hostel is built on a large area, and offers laundry facilities, Internet access, bar meals, and a pool. There is also a pool table and a ping-pong table. There are central showers and toilets, one for men and one for women. The showers are colorful and in good condition, however, there isn't always hot water available. The owner of this hostel is very nice, and you can find him around all the time.

Most of the rooms in the hostel are five-bed rooms. The rooms are big, but very basic. There aren't any lockers in the rooms, but there is a luggage room where you can also put your stuff in case you are going to Fraser Island. The hostel also has its own Fraser Island tours that you can book at the reception, and heaps of other brochures.

Fantastic
Five months in Australia, this is the best hostel so far, and it will be hard to beat! The staff are friendly, the place is clean and tidy, and only thirty seconds away from the beach! There's nice bar, and the barmen were all cool. after two nights it almost felt like "being down the local." Their self-guided 4wd tours to Fraser Island are good as well. the briefing was comprehensive and all the gear was in the back of the LandCruiser, as opposed to on top. This was good as it meant you didnt have to climb on the roof anytime you wanted anything, and meant the thing seemed more stable than cars from other hostels. Awesome place.

This place is by far the best of all the hostels I've stayed in on the east coast backpacker route. The spacious resort style layout enjoys a relaxed and friendly atmosphere mainly due to the sincerity and kindness of the staff. The facilities provide ample opportunity to relax and enjoy the relatively slow pace of Hervey Bay, it is an excellent base for a trip to Fraser Island and a place I was glad to be coming back to afterwards. The kitchen and bathrooms are among the cleanest I've known as are the dorms and the pool. I have enjoyed an excellent stay and will be sorry to leave.

I have no idea why lonely planet rates this place as the best in hervey bay. if this is the best place, i don't want to see the other ones. I was there in winter and you have to pay for a blanket, a deposit plus three bucks a night. i was freezing. the kitchen, toilets, and showers are disgusting. its not the fault of the cleaning staff, the people ruin everything. it's loud. drunken people come home all night and bang against the doors. even when the staff is very friendly and helpful i would never stay there again.

Such a Jekyll and Hyde hostel! On out first night we had the bar open all night and people throwing up in the sink outside our room. On our next night though (friday night), the bar shut early and the place seemed deserted. I think your stay here will depend on whether people are self-driving around Fraser island, or if they're back at Hervey bay. All in all though, the staff were exceptional, and the place clean enough.

What a fantastic place to stay. It was clean, tidy, had a friendly, good atmosphere and the management and staff are just fantastic. I would recommend this place to anyone. The rooms are basic but clean. This is the best hostel I have ever stayed at, and the trips offered here are very good, too. The staff are well informed and trained. We really could not have asked for anything more.

This hostel has a friendly staff and is clean with a cozy lounge. Also, when I was here I had a nine bed dorm to myself. Obviously, it's very underrated!

Best hostel at which we have ever stayed. The staff were really friendly, the foods great, and the rooms big and clean. They had a great pool and brilliant deals to get to Fraser Island. Dont miss out on this place.

We stayed 3 nights, not including our trip to Fraser Island, and were very impressed. The rooms were bright and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, it was in a great location just across from the beach, and a pool and bar to boot! We had a great time and I would recommend staying here to anyone traveling through Hervey Bay.
