Awesome!
I stayed at Baggies for three months in 1997 -- absolutely loved the place -- the best and most homey hostel I have ever stayed at in the twenty-five countries I have visited. Val and Jem were very friendly, and it was awesome to have breakfast and dinner with different people every day who were either coming back or going to Europe. I remember a crowd of Spanish came in, I put on the Spanish dance tracks on the CD player and within five minutes the lounge was packed with people dancing. Made some great friends there there that are still friends now in 2008.

Good hostel. The common areas are well decked out and equipped. Lots of videos to watch. The owners are were ok, not overly friendly but not horrible either. the kitchen can be a little cramped and so can the main dorm room, but the place is cheap. As with a lot of hostels the place can be a bit cliquey to outsiders. There was one girl there who thought herself as "Top Dog" and was a little wary of short termers. However ignore these minor faults as the place is cheap, clean, and well maintained, you could do a lot worse.

Awesome hostel. I lived there for six months in 2003. Cozy, friendly, clean, fun, warm, etc. Jim and Val, who own it, are the nicest people. If you get to meet them they'll treat you like family. I miss the friends I made at Baggies, and the atmosphere there more than anything. I will eat my socks if you have a bad experience there. It can be cliquey for the people that live there for long periods of time, but if you say hi, they will accept you as family. chad.e.smart@wellsfargo.com

This hostel is pretty good on balance. Get a bed in the first floor room if you can — big dorm, plenty room with a big window, which lets plenty air in. Avoid the top floor room — there's not enough room to swing a mouse let alone a cat, and the facilities adjacent are too cramped as well. The downstairs showers and toilet are ok — clean enough and lots of room. I've always found the staff amiable. They don't go out of their way to welcome you into the fold, as it were, but they're efficient enough and friendly. On the debit side the people here are, I think, mostly long and semi-long termers, and are therefore inclined to be very cliquey, but that's not the hostel's fault. The common rooms are spacious and cozy, but the cliquey-ness is inclined to put you off using them — or perhaps it's just me that's anti-social! Hmm! All in all I would recommend it. You'll probably have a better time if you're staying there with pals, as at least you'll have somebody to talk to in the common rooms, but it's a pretty good value for money overall.

I stayed at Baggies this summer in August and I had an awesome time. It had a really cool bunch of people to chat and have a beer with, and it was clean. The two guys who ran the desk were good fun and I spent many hours just chilling downstairs and playing guitar! Overall, it's the best hostel I've been to in the UK! Thanks for the memories.

The hostel is good with its facilities and homely feel to it. But these looks are deceiving. The two staff members that work here, Luke and some other dude, are freaking very arrogant. They think they are God's gift to women because they probably take advantage of them when they are drunk (girls look out). The girls that were here who fell for them are dumb because they fell for it. They just drunk beer every night and were very rude to me. The hostel also sucks because they wouldn't accommodate me with a weekly rate even though I stayed there for that time and most hostels do provide this. I didn't like the clique-y atmosphere and they were very loud and rude when you are trying to sleep at night. Let's just hope that Jim, the owner, will pick better candidates for the position who respect people for who they are!! Aside from this, the hostel definitely has potential for being a good hostel.

This place is great and cheap - I paid £11 per night for a mixed dorm. The rooms are a little cramped with beds so close together but another way of looking at that is that it's cosy! My only other complaint is that the showers and shower area is pretty cramped also and not very private... but I have to say you get used to it. The owners of Baggies are great - as close as you'll get to a mum and dad (in a good way!) away from home. The atmosphere was great and as well as a regular lounge there's a really great basement living room area with lots of cushions where everyone chills out, eats, talks, plays music.. etc. I would go back here in a flash.

I was in this hostel about four years ago. It's such a good place to stay! Showers and toilets were always clean. In the basement, you've got a lounge, kitchen, and a washer and dryer (and that's cool and helpful!!!). The people who worked there at this time were amazing to me. I could have stayed two months there, time to find a flat mate and flat in Brighton. I think it's the best hostel in Brighton and the price is the best as well!

I'm always thinking about my Baggies' memories. I'll never forget anything!!! I made a lot of great friends there!!! There was lots of love there; I really enjoyed my stay. We had a crazy party, drinking, talking with friends from other countries, and I could eat great food from all over the world every night!! It changed my life!!! I have a sweet home (Baggies) in Brighton, so I can go back to Brighton anytime!!! I'll be back!!! Keep going, Baggies spirit!!! One of my greatest treasures is my memories of Baggies!!! Thanks a lot!! Thanks for a once-in-a-lifetime chance!!!

I stayed here for just over a month and it is without doubt the best hostel I've ever stayed in. It's a fantastic hostel with great owners —it has excellent parties, good facilities, and a chilled crowd. It's got an awesome vibe about the place, and now that I'm living in Brighton I can't help but go back to visit—it feels like a home away from home. It's SO much better than any other backpackers in Brighton.

We loved it. The room was not big enough for us at first, but the people here went out of their way to accommodate us comfortably. We'll all come back if you'll have us again!
