Description

Visit this summer cabin on the Conejos River in cool Colorado. Eat a free home cooked breakfast and watch the humming birds in season. Walk along the river or drive a dirt road to hike the Rio Grande National Forest or the South San Juan Wilderness. Good day trips include the Sand Dunes National Monument and Zapata Falls, a ride on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad or a visit to San Luis & Taos, New Mexico.

We stayed here several nights four years ago with our three nearly adult children. Our hostess was wonderful! I remember the peace and quiet, homemade quilts on the beds, and the delicious breakfasts. She even let our daughters bake pies from her surplus apples one evening. I stayed at this hostel at the beginning of the summer a couple years ago. It was a wonderful experience. The lady who ran it was a wonderful caring mother to all who stayed there. I've stayed at various hostels since then and it is still the best I've stayed at! — Tom (2003-06-23)
