The Hostelz.com Review
Hostel Tampereen NNKY is about 10 minutes walk from the train station and isn't hard to miss. Turn right out of the main exit and walk straight down the road until you reach the big cathedral and the hostel is just on the left hand side of the little park. The road that the hostel lies on is also a direct straight line to the shopping district of Tampere. On first arrival spotting the front door is harder than it seems, thought if you go round the building a couple of time your bound to find the right door.

On the outside, the building looks like any other housing block in the area and inside it is much the same. The reception is on the second floor so the adventure continues for a little while longer. At reception there is a friendly smile to great you but no credit card machine for your flexible friend. Also more worryingly there is also a camp bed beside the check in desk – we were too baffled to ask if the girl who checked us in slept there or that was for late comers! There is also a host of information for those wanting to explore the city further than what the guide book has to offer, plus the staff will help with any queries you have.

Our room was a double room, comprising of two single beds, a very long desk, a wardrobe and one mirror. Each floor comes equipped with a small kitchen, a bathroom room with toilet and sink, a laundry room, and a shower area which has two showers. The showers appeared to be for all sexes to use so privacy might be a bit of a concern for those who like peace while singing their hearts out. Everything was kept to the cleanest standard possible throughout the hostel, thought the kitchen was left in a mess by the other people on our floor when they had finished.

Overall Tampereen NNKY is in a great location and you won't find better value elsewhere in town. It does have that youth hostel feel about it so if you are expecting to meet others or have a wild nights, you should probably look elsewhere. If you do come to stay ask for a room that overlooks the front of the building and you'll get great views of the cathedral. Other than that a good time was had all round.

1  USELESS HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE A HOSTEL WHERE THEY CLOSE THE COMMON ROOM AT 10 PM?? USELESS. AS USELESS IT IS THE STAFF OF THE HOSTEL, POLITE BUT USELESS.  , germany ()
4  Nice, clean accommodation The hostel was quite comfortable and the breakfast, though pricey, was a filling start to my day. I stayed in a dorm room with a great view overlooking the cathedral. If you are looking to meet people, the hostel doesn't appear well set up for that. Also there is only one bathroom (per gender) on each floor with a shower located in a separate room, so on busy days that could create line-ups, but it never created an issue for me. The location is great -- very close to the train station and within walking distance of everything else, as Tampere is not so large. All around I would recommend staying here!  , Canada ()
