The Hostelz.com Review
HI - Greenwood Lodge is located about eight miles east of Bennington, VT. Being in Bennington go on Highway Nine East, the street goes up a hill, as soon as you see a sign at the right side which says, Greenwood Lodge Camping, turn right and follow the sign to the Office.

Bennington hostel is one of the most beautiful hostels we have seen. It is in the main building of a Campground, therefore you are allowed to use all things common on a campground, such as canoes, boats, a game room, and BBQ area.

The staff is very friendly and as you are living in their house the atmosphere is cosy and familiar. The beds are a little bit old and the dorms aren't very beautiful, but there is so much space in Greenwood Lodge that you will easily find another spot to hang around (such as in front of their beautiful chimney).

Fresh sheets are provided at check-in. The bathrooms are clean and have a rural ambience. The kitchen is clean, too, but not very new. The public room has several tables, a chimney, a TV, a piano, and some rocking chairs. The game room includes table soccer, air ice hockey, and table tennis.

Bennington hostel is not a party hostel at all, but is strongly recommended for everybody who wants to relax and enjoy his free time. It beautifully located for hiking along the Appalachian Trail, as well as for many other outdoor activities.

The Greenwood Lodge is a unique and spectacular hostel. The owners, Ann and Ed, and their son, Chris, have created a fun and welcoming atmosphere. They are genuinely friendly people and have great suggestions on places to visit in the area. The hostel has a cozy, ski lodge feel, and it's the perfect place for travelers to relax and meet new people. The property is beautiful as well. I went when the color of the fall foliage was at its peak, and I suggest you do the same! There are hiking trails right on the property, and other places to hike nearby. In Bennington I highly recommend stopping at the Blue Ben Diner. There are plenty of touristy Vermont shops (fudge, cider, cheese, etc.) if you're looking for that. If you're just looking for basic items, there's True's General Store right across the street from the hostel. Okay, you get the idea: I highly recommend going!
