The Hostelz.com Review
Exmouth town is quite spread out but most facilities are within walking range of the Blue Reef Backpackers at Exmouth Cape Holiday Park Hostel. Backpacker accommodation is only one option available at the Aspen Parks Managed Big Four -- camping and caravan sites are also available as well as cabins and motel-style accommodation.

The Location

The backpacker accommodation is close to the camping ground kitchen and ablutions block, set amongst park-like surroundings and with the odd friendly emu strolling around. The very small township is a five-minute walk away and Town Beach is three kilometers. Nearby is the Information Centre and the Greyhound bus will drop you at the door.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The dorm rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and with comfortable bedding and comfortable mattresses. There are four beds to each dorm; they can be mixed or single sex. All the backpacker accommodation is new and in great condition. Fellow guests said that it was one of the better places they had stayed in along coastal WA. The accommodation has spotless bathrooms.

Common Spaces

Most people socialise around the outdoor area attached to the kitchen where there are barbecues and outdoor tables. The backpacker buildings also have a common seating area outside each building.

The spotless kitchen is well maintained and a cooking pack (containing pots, pans, cutlery, knives, plates, and even a bottle opener and vegetable peeler) is available from reception. You must pay a deposit and there is a charge for usage. There is no facility for stored luggage and internet kiosks are available but slow and expensive. A bookshop just across the highway is a better option for internet. The hostel has spotless laundries -- dryers are available but there are clotheslines to use.

Summary

This is a lovely respite from the road. The park is well managed and clean and the backpackers accommodation is some of the best in WA and is recommended to all. Note, reception closes at 6 p.m., but if you make an arrangement with the friendly reception people, a key will be left out for you with directions to your room.

5 Great location, great facilities, very clean, beautiful surrounds, great pool, very helpful friendly staff, they have an oven, perfect for heating up frozen pizzas - bonus!   — Customer review (2010-12-07) Hostelbookers
4 the pool and clean rooms   — Customer review (2010-08-27) Hostelbookers
4 The rooms and the hostel area are great. Swimming pool, big clean kitchen area and good shower facilities. It's just impossible to get around without a car. Restaurants in Exmouth are closed until March. If u go there during low saison take/rent a car and go with another person, very unlikely to meet lots of people. Had a good time there. :)   — Customer review (2010-02-10) Hostelbookers
3 A bit far from the "city centre" but not so far from the bus stop. The management asks you to keep the kitchen clean but they don't provide anything to clean your dishes or the tables. Atmosphere nice enough, movie almost every night at 7, which is quite cool... if you like teens movies. No lockers in the room and we couldn't lock the door of our dorm on the last 2 days, which is quite annoying....   — Customer review (2009-10-08) Hostelbookers

4  Nice place, helpful staff I spent several days here, you stay in little trailers with AC (you need AC in Exmouth!). The staff was friendly and very helpful. It's a decent walk from the few shops and restaurants in town, but doable. One of my days here a couple of emus showed up and walked around for a while, luckily that was my day I had nothing planned so I just hung out with the emus!  , USA ()
5  Fantastic and friendly place. Excellent facilities for the price and the Karijini National Park 4 day trip was absolutely superb. Do it! Exmouth is a wonderful place.  ()
5  Pete's is definitely one of the best hostels I stayed in during my year in Australia. The staff are all great and will help you out wherever possible. The fresh fish BBQ's are delicious and are a great way to end the day, especially after a perfect day spent diving! STAY HERE, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!  ()
