The Hostelz.com Review
HI - Pembroke House is located across from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke near the major highway I-95. It's a good stopping point when you're traveling up or down the east side of the country. Pembroke is a Native American city and the surrounding cities also do provide some touristy fun things to do.

If you are looking for a happening place, this is not for you. The place is quiet and you may end up being the only guest in there. The rooms have a couch and a TV. The hostel is associated with the church so there is a sense of religion there. The bathrooms have a western style door and it is pretty fun to take a shower there. The common area is very clean. The place is comfortable and very quiet. All that for a price which can hardly be beat in the US.

The person who manages it is well traveled and very friendly. Laundry machines and parking space are provided but you should not leave anything valuable in your car. Overall this can be a perfect place, depending on what you are looking for.

5  Perfect Stop Over for Traveling Snowbirds, East Coast Cruisers If your on a tight traveling budget, this is one stop you should make on your voyage going North or South along Interstate 95. You will be warmly welcomed by the management and surrounded by an academic community. I have stopped for an overnight on several occasions in the past twenty years. Often received a private room and once slept on floor mats in the great room. If you travel by motorcycle and often camp out along the way, you will really appreciate the comfort and shelter from bad weather conditions. There are several local restaurants nearby. If you time it right, you may be able to still purchase a meal ticket at the Student Union on campus across the street. I am on layoff from my work and still want to travel economically to visit with family and friends along the east coast. This accommodation fits my limited budget just right.  , US ()
5  Very clean, quiet, and comfortable place to stay. We had an environmental tour of cypress lake and uninhabited island in January. Spenttwo nights at the hostel and found it very relaxing. Weather great and lots of things to do on the lakes and the Lumber River near the hostel. Although room had TV, we did not even turn it on!  , US ()
5  HI-Pembroke house is located in southern, rural North Carolina about 10 to 15 minutes from I-95. It is on the campus of U of NC-Pembroke in its Baptist Student Center, a small unassuming grey building that is easy to miss at night. Inside the hostel there is a kitchen, male and female bathrooms (with showers), a living room with a computer and three bedrooms. Out of two bedrooms seen, one had a bunk bed and the other a trundle bed. Blankets and sheets as well as an alarm clock and tv are provided. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are quiet (remember, rural neighborhood). It is good to be aware that because it is also in a Baptist Center, the bookshelves in the rooms contain many Christian books, in addition to the many travel books. The entire hostel is very clean. The owner is very sweet and does not mind leaving the door open for you if you are arriving late.  , USA ()
5  We used this hostel as a stopping point in a two-day drive to Florida. It has a very nice owner, and the beds were so comfy!! It was even better than my room at college. Clean and quiet, but not somewhere I'd go as a destination (too rural for my city tastes!)  ()
5  Very clean, friendly staff.  ()
