The Hostelz.com Review
The hostel is conveniently located to make your winter sport holiday an awesome one. Buses go all day to the popular Aspen Snowmass Mountains and there is a bus connection once a day ($6 one-way) to the Sunlight Mountain Resort. The hostel is a 10 minute walk from the Amtrak station and close to the downtown area, where a few shops and ski rental stores are located.
The Hostel is split up in two buildings, one for the dorms and reception, and one for the private rooms. Each building has its own kitchen, living room, and bathroom facilities. The private rooms are not very big, but they are clean and comfy.
The hostel was started 15 years ago by a different owner, but the hostel is now run by a young married couple from South Africa. They both are doing an awesome job making guests feel at home and they are prepared to help you out with anything. The free coffee is a great thing to start the day with.
In short, this hostel is one to come back to and spend some nights instead of the relatively more expensive hostels / hotels in Aspen and Snowmass. You sure make some friends here.

Pretty Good Paid $25 for a small private room. House and kitchen were very clean. Bathroom situation was a mad dash, in the morning. Good location, near Amtrak. Bus stop to Aspen at corner. Dorms looked very tight and crowded. Management seemed friendly. Drinking and smoking tolerated on the front porch. — Deepak , Pakistan (2010-08-03)

I love the, hostel, the town, and the people. Glenwood has a prime spot for a hostel. I would not know of a better place to go for a vacation, after visiting there numerous times, and the hostel is tops for everything you could want in a hostel! Especially I enjoyed getting to meet the owner. — Anonymous , USA (2010-02-22)

Perfect Good Location, Friendly Staff, walking distance to everything in town, what more do you need? Gary was a perfect host and John was very nice also. I will visit again if I am ever in the area! — Deb Henry , USA (2008-11-12)

Great Deal! As everyone has said, this is a great deal in a great location. The only very small criticisms I have is, the bathroom facilities are in somewhat short supply and there is no breakfast. Really though, that's nothing compared to what nightmares some hostels can be. Stay here! — Christine , United States (2007-11-23)

I stayed here for one night with my boyfriend when we were passing through Glenwood Springs. It was my first hostel experience, and I loved it! The place had character and the owner was very friendly. It was the off-season and because it wasn't crowded, it didn't even feel like we were sharing a bathroom. We were treated very well. If we had had to stay longer, we wouldn't have minded. So affordable! — Moller (2006-12-02)

We stayed at this Hostel several weekends while visiting Glenwood Springs. Wonderful location. The staff was awesome. The rate was wonderful. I did have to wear flip-flops in the shower, but the rest of the bathroom was clean. Great place to stay! And they let us have our dog there. — Stephanie (2006-11-27)

Great hostel! The owner (yes, this is the same one who has owned it for almost twenty years) is selling up but apparently there is lots of interest from potential buyers to keep it as a hostel. Even so, enjoy it as is now -- this is how hostels are supposed to be. The fact it's so cheap is a bonus. Highly, highly recommended -- very friendly staff and guests. — Matt (2006-11-22)

We are new to hostels and in our lower 40s agewise. Both of us find it a waste to blow a couple hundred dollars on hotels for one or two nights. We just stayed at the Glenwood Springs Hostel and was very satisfied. The guests were nice, the showers and bathroom very clean and we got a good nights rest. Gary the owner and John (my friend from Ireland) treated us well and were very gracious. We plan on coming back this year with my girlfriends kids. Glenwood Springs was a great place to visit and to come back to. — Al and Stacey (2006-05-29)

We stayed at this hostel for our honeymoon at the end of September, and we couldn't have had a more enjoyable time. Everything we could want to do was within walking distance. Glenwood Springs is a really diverse place with much more to offer than I expected of such a tiny town. The staff at the hostel were most helpful, even after we tried to burn the kitchen down! Thank you so much for helping to make our honeymoon lovely. — Cincinnati honeymooners (2004-11-09)

I stayed here during the 1993-94 ski season, and it was a truly life-changing experience. I met some fantastic people here, and the hostel has a very relaxed atmosphere that makes you stay much longer than you intended to! I wonder if Gary Grillo is still in charge, and what happened to my dear friend Rachel Graham? — Cajsa from Sweden (2004-07-07)

I stayed here in June 2004 for four nights--I should have stayed much longer. Glenwood Springs is a beautiful location with so much to do--great hiking, biking, rafting, and the hot springs are wonderful to wind down in at the end of a busy day. The hostel has a wonderful atmosphere, very laid-back and friendly. You can't fail to enjoy your stay at this hostel. — Liz (2004-07-05)

This is one of my absolute favorite hostels! Brett and Lynn are amazing. It is so close to everything, and has late night jam sessions, community meals, an amazing LP collection, and discounts to all kinds of activities. It's in a perfect location. It is clean, and I planned on staying just one night and reluctantly left five days later. I will be back for sure!! — Juliette (2004-06-26)

I lived in this hostel in 1994 and 1995 for the ski season (with Aussie Pete...Hi, Pete!!). I had a great time. It's in a great location, with great people! I highly recommend it. It's the best hostel in the US! — Tamara (2004-06-01)

We visited the Glenwood Springs Hostel in March, 2004. Situated on the I-70, Glenwood Springs is the perfect location to access the great ski areas of Vail, Snowmass and Aspen. But really, the local Sunlight Mountain cannot be beaten. No queues, and friendly people. And it's great to go snowboarding with the staff from the hostel.
Afterwards, hang out at the hostel listening to some of its 3,000 records, or soak in the world's largest hot springs. We really recommend visiting the great people at the Glenwood Springs Hostel. It's the best hostel in the US. — Jason Reid (2004-03-16)

I lived in the Glenwood Springs Hostel in 1995 for 6 months. I had a blast. Worked, skied, drunk, and met some great poeple! I'm wondering if it's the same hostel run by the same bloke. — Aussie Pete (2004-01-04)
