Great quiet little place, very homely but not too far away from Waitomo centre.

Reception wasn't open at 5pm and a sign on the door said they were open until 7pm. It turns out the girl was sick, but we had to wait around for a while for someone to show up and check us in. It's a little creepy getting there at night as it's kind of on farmland and dark, plus there are all these wet suit scarecrows which creeped us out a little bit driving down the gravel road to the hostel. Once we got settled in however the hostel was cozy & nice, like a little cottage that you share with some friendly strangers. We could light the fireplace which made it really cozy. And the beds have electric blankets which is a bonus on those cold winter nights. Couple of other things - internet wasn't working, which was annoying. There was no soap in the bathrooms. And no hooks to hang coats/bags in the dorm room we were in. Also we left before reception opened (kind of our fault, forgot to tell them they day before) and they said they would "work" on getting us our key deposit back via credit card but that they don't usually do refunds on credit card.. let's see how that goes.

Rap Raft n Rock was a brilliant stay, although the farm is out in the middle of no where it does have a brilliant offer of activites at the farm and the cottage where you stay is cosy. The staff were a delight answering all our questions and the tour guides for the caving are very funny and entertaining. Bring food!

The internet was by far the cheapest I used (charged by downloads rather than time). having 24 hour access to the internet booth was was also good, although the light switch didn't seem to work in there!

very friendly staff. Great cave-adventure!! But the house is old, cold and not that great... Located in the middle of nowhere, buy food before you get there!

Quite small and has a very homely feel. Out in the middle of nowhere thought and no TV or phone signal. So if you are without your own transport or entertainment, it could get quite boring.

This is a nice, very small hostel. It's quiet and cosy. A great place if you're going on one of their caving trips. It's miles from anywhere though, so plan food and transport ahead.

It has a really chilled out feel to it and is really homely. If you want remoteness it is a good place to go and chill by the fire and play games. It is very clean although the bedrooms could do with a bit of a make over soon. They offer all 5 activities for $125. Unfortunately we didnt have the money to do that so chose to go with The Black Water Rafting Company. They were great and even picked us up and dropped us off at the hostel.

I really liked the cosy feeling we get and the area around the hostel is fantastic! Also, it is along the way to waitomo caves so we did not have any trouble searching for it at all.
