The Hostelz.com Review
Chilli's Backpackers is in a great position on Mitchell Street where the majority of shops, bars and restaurants are located. You can see it from the transit centre where the Greyhound and airport shuttle buses drop off.

The double rooms are clean and have a small fridge, sink and lockable cupboards in them, but they do feel rather claustrophobic. The shared toilet and shower blocks are clean and not too crowded.

There is an open-sided area on the second floor containing the large kitchen and TV/Lounge area, which is nice to sit in when it gets hot. The reception area on street level has a number of Internet terminals and lots of information on trips around the local area.

Quite a young crowd stay at Chillis as the location is right on the main backpacker strip, and there are always plenty of people milling around in the lounge/kitchen areas. The hostel is always busy as the reception area also acts as an Internet cafe which non residents can use.

Great location with helpful staff. I was there last Easter and had a wicked surprise on Easter Sunday. It's clean with great hot tubs, and I met some cool people there. Just such a hot place. A great place to stay for backpackers.

Too big. No one was overly friendly. We just headed to the pub to meet some nice people instead!

It was okay. They have a massive price hike for the peak season ($4 extra per night). Some of the staff are okay. One guy in particular is unfriendly, and even annoying sometimes.

This was the worst hostel I have ever stayed at. The staff were unfriendly and it is no where near as convenient as it makes out!
