Pliskovica Youth hostel operates on the site of a protected cultural monument that is over 400 years old. Although renovated to a comfortable standard the hostel boasts authentic Karst architecture, a genuine rural aesthetic and a beautiful closed yard planted with herbs, fruit trees and lavender, and all of this just 15 minutes from the Adriatic Sea and the beautiful city of Trieste!
The hostel accommodates 45 people spread around 6 rooms of varying size, with an area for camping and a child-friendly play area. A playfield with goals, a volleyball net, swings and a jungle gym are sure to keep the children happy.There are facilities for washing and drying and access to free WiFi.
Breakfast is served between 7am and 9.30am in our fully equipped kitchen, with fresh produce available from our local market. We also have a barbeque area complete with grill, preparation area, ample seating and beatiful panoramic views of the unspoilt Karst landscape. You can also have authentic Karst cuisine delivered to the hostel, as well as taking part in local culinary workshops.
We offer our visitors guided tours of our Slamčevi farmhouse and offer to rent our high quality bicycles to explore the nearby area free of charge. The hostel is also nestled amongst the renowned Karst wine region, with vineyards and wine cellars on its doorstep.
Actively immerse yourself in the culture of the region with workshops in stone-cutting, the wattling of baskets and the preparation of your own herb and flower essences. For more active guests, organised hikes and guided tours along a prepared Karst discovery trail allow for the opportunity to take in the breathtaking surroundings.
Our large function room is ideal for business meetings, training workshops, seminars, work-weekends and school groups, all within a peaceful village environment that ensures relaxation and a pleasant working atmosphere as well as a warm and friendly welcome!

• How to find us
• Pliskovica Youth Hostel is located in the heart of Karst. We are just minutes from Dutovlje and Sežana and just 15 minutes from Trieste on the Italian coastline.
• Sežana – Pliskovica
• Follow the Maritime highway and take the Sežana East exit. Follow directions for Nova Gorica and Dutovlje. Continue through the village of Šmarje, Tomaj, Križ and you reach Dutovlje after about 8km. At the junction for Komen and Pliskovica turn left and after approximately 4.5km and after you pass the village of Krajna vas you will arrive in Pliskovica. Simply follow the signs for the Youth Hostel.
• Nova Gorica – Pliskovica
• Driving from Nova Gorica you should head towards Branik and then turn right to Komen. After about 10km you will arrive in Komen. At the petrol station turn left towards Dutovlje and after approximately 5km you will reach the exit for Pliskovica. Follow the signs for the Youth Hostel.
• Motorway A4, (Trieste) – Pliskovica
• Exit the motorway at Sistiana and follow the signs for Vižovlje (Visoliano). In the village of Malchina (Malchin) turn right and drive through the village past the Križ Šempolaja (San Pelagio). At the junction turn left towards Slovenia (Gorjansko). After 3km turn right towards Brje and Komen, Tublje and Veliki Dol and after 7km you will arrive at Pliskovica and then you should simply follow the signs to the Youth Hostel.
