So much potential, but not used cheap place, but try to get the upper rooms and facing the front for balcony. we had fun, got drunk, and threw over the rails water-filled condoms to Limo below, simple european fun. we would return, but i have to convince my friends first. old building, hot hot -- not the good way. — Johann , German (2007-06-30)

Not too bad for Athens You get what you paid for! I didn't actually find the rooms too dirty (though I must say I wasn't expecting any average standards of cleanliness in a hostel in Athens). Bed sheets are clean. There is an elevator. The people at the reception speak Italian fairly good (and the other main languages as well). They're not too friendly but ok. I got the chance to make friends of my age, eighteen (anyhow I saw people of all ages staying here). The metro line is not far and takes you easily to the centre. There is a small supermarket nearby and many restaurants.
The area is creepy, in particular at night time. Boiling Hot! No a/c, or any ventilation system. Plus my roommates were scared to open the window. There are lockers in the room but only big for your suitcase to fit in. No room to place your belongings. Anyhow I'll come back if I had to. — Valentina , Italy (2007-05-19)

We stayed there twice in the last two weeks. The first two nights of our holiday, we had a room with bathroom, which was all clean and a balcony. Unfortunately, when we came back the last day, we didn't have a balcony anymore and were woken up by the daycare next door. Some of the staff were friendly, some were not, but, they all spoke English and that's a big plus. It was very easy to get there thanks to the metro that's just at the end of the street. I did meet some fun people there (though we had to sit outside, as alcohol was not allowed). — Margaux (2006-09-16)

The rooms were cramped, there was writing all over the walls, and the wallpaper was peeling but the people were friendly and the location was good. — Kath (2006-08-03)

We (my wife, now aged 68 and I, aged 72) have stayed at this VERY FRIENDLY and FANTASTICALLY CHEAP hostel MANY (over 10) times over the last 20 years. What do people expect for such a ridiculously LOW price? (compared with other options in Athens) We have unhesitatingly recommended it over the years to friends ,who have ALL loved it (logically taking into consideration the shabby (but NOT dirty things) while appreciating the LOW price and friendliness). -We last used it in Oct 2005 , so are not talking in the past .---- Also it is VERY close(200 mtrs) to new subway station . We have never encountered guests complaining --on the contrary they have been amazed at the value & enthusiastic! I am staggered by the negative comments on this site --obviously only spoiled whingers take the bother to comment! — john (2006-02-10)

It was quite dirty - but it's very cheap and so it was okay. — Olive (2005-04-25)

It seems ok for the price. But we didn't get any free breakfast. I'll ask next time. Anyone who complains that it is too far from the Metro must be older than me and I'm 75!!! — Windyskipper (2005-02-06)

My wife and I stayed a week in a room with a balcony overlooking the street. We had a private bath, which was cleaned every day. There was free breakfast in the restaurant across the street. We ate several other meals there during our stay because the food was good and it was cheap. The hostel is within walking distance of an ATM, a supermarket, and underground transportation. — Carlos (2005-01-04)
Well, the place is a little bit dirty and there is no hot water, but the staff are friendly. This hostel is a little bit far from city center but it's near the train station. Around the hostel there are horrible places, so you need to pay attention to your surroundings at night. It's okay for one night, but if you're planning to stay longer, find another place. But the place is cheap and the breakfast is perfect. — Baris (2004-10-07)
This place was totally disgusting. It should be closed down as soon as possible. It was extremely dirty, and had bacteria all over the bathroom. We spent the night at the bus station, which was far better than the hostel. — Anonymous (2004-09-09)
I know that the city is known to be dirty, and I know that it's hostels are known to be dirty, but...this was DIRTY. Horrible bathrooms--worst of my trip--and cramped and unclean rooms. It has a good location, but...dirty. Is all the dirt worth it for the price, a bargain-basement 8 Euro? You decide for yourself. — Anonymous (2004-07-10)

It was very easy to meet people, and the environment was extremely hospitable. One of the friendliest and most accommodating of the hostels on our trip! — Anonymous (2004-06-23)

Not that bad a hostel. The kitchen was fully equipped -- a bit cramped but still good. The rooms were alright and the staff were very helpful (unlike most of the other Greeks in the city). The hostel is a decent -- but very do-able -- walk from the train station and close to a metro line. — Zeus (2004-04-25)
This place had very cramped rooms, it's far from the center of the city, and there's not enough room to cook or space to eat. It's a really crowded hostel with dirty rooms and really, really dirty bathrooms. As far as hostels go it was decent, but I am sure there are places you could stay in Greece for a bit more that would be much nicer. I needed a shower after visiting here. The staff was nice, though, which was the only plus. — Anonymous (2004-04-19)

The staff are very friendly and they can communicate in excellent English. You don't need to be afraid of being locked out. The location is a little bit far away from the metro. You have to walk some distance to find this hostel. — Anonymous (2004-04-17)
