The major drawback to staying here was the lack of other travellers. Not just in the Apsara but in this part of town. If you like quiet places then it will be perfect for you. For me it was just a little too quiet and a bit too far out of town. The only other person staying was a Belgian guy who was in a private room with his own television so he disappeared to his room at night. There was no TV in the reception and the bookshelf was empty, but they did have darts and pool. I was here in off season and the reception guys and motorbike tour guides that hung around tried to make up for the lack of company. Apparently more people come in November and December.
The dorm is basically unused during the off season and they only pull out the beds as there is need. This is good because the dorm is in a central area inside a quaint old wooden house and the less beds used means more floor space and room. The rest of the beds are kept in a corner behind a screen. The beds also have mosquito nets and the building is really airy so you don't need air conditioning. The other thing I really liked here was the spacious courtyard and sitting areas. There were even sun chairs to relax in after a day seeing Angkor Wat.
