Hostelz.com's Review
Yuma's House / Tina's Backpacker's is a lovely place to stay -- the staff are really friendly and helpful. We consider this hostel as the top pick for Caye Caulker.

The Location

You literally can't miss Yuma's House as you get off the ferry. Walk to the end of the dock and it is the first place you see on the left. There is a huge sign that says "Yuma's House" attached to a palm tree and it is enclosed by an orange fence.

Yuma's House is about a ten-minute walk from The Split, where you can hang out and swim at the beach, and everything else that you may need during your stay in Caye Caulker such as supermarkets, bars, restaurants, and snorkeling and diving shops are along the way. It is a small island so everything is within a short distance.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms here at Yuma's are great. Each bed has a really good mattress; they change the sheets of the bed daily so you get fresh ones every night. The rooms also have lockers and you are allocated one and given a key to the lock on it upon your check in. There are multiple bathrooms and showers that you can use in both the upstairs and downstairs parts of the house. The showers only have cold water; the bathrooms are kept in super clean condition, however, and are nice to use.

Common Spaces

Yuma's House has two kitchens -- one upstairs, one downstairs -- that you can use if you don't feel like eating out all the time or you are on a budget. Each kitchen has a stovetop and an oven and is well equipped with dishes and any other cooking utensils that you may need. Around the top level of the house there are chairs, tables, and swings that you can hang out and socialize on, and on the ground level of the house there are heaps of tables, hammocks, and places that you can sit around, chill out, and meet people.

Summary

Yuma's is a really chilled out and relaxed hostel. They do however enforce a quiet time after around 10 p.m., where they suggest that if you are going to be loud and drinking that you go and do it at a bar and not disturb the sleep of the other guests. They do also have a policy where you cannot be on the premises unless you are staying here, which is good for security purposes, but it you have friends staying elsewhere, you will have to find somewhere else to socialize.
