Hostelz.com's Review
Lima Limon Candelaria Hostel is a small, friendly hostel with staff that encourage interaction between the guests.

The Location

The hostel is located on the edge of the historical district of La Candelaria. This area is swamped with hostels in seemingly ever other building. From here you are only a ten-minute walk from the TransMilenio (bus) system that will take you to any part of the city. Similarly, most of the city's major tourist sights are easily within walking distance.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Rooms are a mixture of four- or six-bed dorms that house wooden bunk beds that are sturdy and pretty modern. The mattresses, while slightly thin, are very comfortable and a number of thick covers keep out the Bogotá cold and ensure a good night's sleep.

Strangely there are only two lockers to be shared among the four beds, meaning that it is pot luck if you get one. Nevertheless, the staff will be happy to look after any valuables. The bathrooms are located on the ground floor alongside the common area and are divided from this area by a makeshift wooden board. There are three showers for the whole hostel -- that may become a problem if there is full occupancy. The showers themselves are hot and normally at good pressure.

Common Spaces

There is one main communal area that doubles up as the kitchen table. Travelers gather around here to exchange stories and this small area gives the advantage of creating an intimate environment, which encourages people to interact. The staff are very social and further contribute to this, regularly organising trips to local bars and socialising with guests to create a very welcoming feeling. The hostel is also full of quirky decorations that really give the place character. Up a couple of steps is the reception area where there is an abundance of travel literature to help you plan your next step. Here are a couple of comfortable couches and a television. Upstairs alongside the dorm rooms are two communal computers where internet is available for free.

Friendly staff and interesting decor mean that Lima Limon is a very good option in the heart of the old city of Bogotá. Interestingly enough, the hostel prices itself at the lower-end range but its good facilities and hot water would certainly justify the same higher prices charged at rival hostels round the corner.
