I went to Ellis Hideout this weekend! (October 23rd/24th). It's a fantastic place to spend a few days. Various points of note: if you get a "Tro-Tro" [private transport vehicle] from Takoradi to Agona Junction (2800 cedis) you'll probably have to charter a taxi to take you to Butre, which will cost about 40,000 cedis. Then you have to take a ride in a dugout canoe across the rivermouth (2000 cedis) to get to Ellis Hideout itself. They've changed the dorms so they only sleep four now, but they are clean and really nice and only 40,000 cedis per person per night. The food is great, too. You can also take a 40 minute walk to Busua, where there's a beach resort and various "men" e.g. Joseph the Lobster man, Frank the Juice man, etc.
