The Hostelz.com Review
Atilla's Getaway is just that -- a get-away. It is located about a five-minute drive outside of the very small little town of Selcuk which is itself an hour bus ride to the nearest medium-sized town of Kusadasi. And this is just perfect, because you don't really want to leave the Getaway.
The Getaway is equipped with a large variety of rooms -- from the cheapest options of dorm rooms, to four-bed smaller rooms, to a hotel-style room. The bathrooms are either attached to the room or the building, along with the showers. There is a superb pool with a fountain in the courtyard, along with a hammock, lounge chairs, three separate lounge areas, picnic tables, their own orchard, a bar, a volleyball court, and an excellent library for reading or planning the next travel destination.
All three meals are included with your stay, far and away making the price of staying here dirt cheap. The food is incredible as well. The chef cooks with only local cuisine, most of it grown fresh in the Getaway's own garden, and is local himself as well.
The staff here are incredible and are superb and this is a quality that Atilla's Getaway specializes in. Many of these people come back year after year as chef, driver, manager, or bartender and they are all amazing. The Getaway picks you up at the bus station and delivers you there upon departure as well. Daily trips are also made to the major scenic sites nearby, and there are also quite frequent trips to the nearby skydiving airfield.
The location is key to the world traveler as well. Five minutes away lies Ephesus, the Cave of the Seven Sleepers, St. John's Church, and the house of the Mother Mary. The nearby town of Kusadasi is a popular jumping off point for ferrying to the Greek Isles. It can't be missed.
Atilla's Getaway is an ideal place if you are looking for a chance to relax and catch your breath during stops or if you want to party it out with the other backpackers (and it is a party-place, too). The food is amazing, the people interesting, the rooms comfortable, and the experience once-in-a-lifetime.

A little slice of paradise Atilla is a tall man, but where he is largest is his heart. He is the most genuine, sincere individual and really cares to make your stay warm and memorable. I stayed in the dorm and paid for the half-board (breakfast and dinner) for a total of 35TL a night (17.5 Euro). The room was comfortable, warm at night, and had a clothesline out the back for laundry. Showers were HOT and clean.
The breakfasts are not the same old cheese, bread, tomato, cucumber, and olives you get everywhere else. You have a choice of French toast, cereal with yogurt and fresh fruit, menemen (frittata), omelettes, as well as the traditional Turkish breakfast. Dinners have been tasty, alternating between vegetarian and meat based meals. Evenings can be spent enjoying a nargileh (9 TL/4.5 Euro), playing backgammon or chess or poker, or just sitting by the fire. There is a free shuttle between the bus station (otogar) and the hotel 5 times a day making it easy to get to and from the ruins of Ephesus. I strongly recommend Atilla's Getaway for anyone looking to chill out in a beautiful, refreshing environment. I didn't venture into the pool, but I'll bet it's great in the summer months. — Noak11 , USA (2011-05-15)

Great place! Real nice place. few kilometers out of town. Quiet during daytime. Party in the evening. Very friendly staff. they really like what they are doing and that is what you feel. Real nice food. Take the breakfast and dinner deal. its great value and have dinner all together will bring you a lot of new friends. No problems at all here! — Evelyn , Dutch (2009-10-18)

Lives up to all the hype! I just finished a three-night stay, and was blown away by the fresh healthy food, relaxed pool scene, and proximity to great sites like Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis. I couldn't stay here for more than a week, but it's a great place to recharge the batteries. The staff, mostly made up of members from the same family, are friendly, and more than helpful. Prices are reasonable too. All in all, Attilla's Getaway is probably the best place to stay in Selcuk. — Joel , USA (2008-07-28)

This place is great. Very relaxing and comfortable. Also it seems like everyone who stays here are really great people. They provide breakfast and dinner which are made by local village women and out of this world. The hostel is outside selcuk but just a five-minute car ride. They also do free drop off and pick up in selcuk and ephesus. Everyone who works there is great. Plan on staying longer than expected. — Daphne (2006-08-10)

Pros: Very clean dorm and best bathroom we had in turkey, awesome included meals, friendly staff, nice surroundings, cute puppies to play with. Cons: Staff do NOT have any idea about the travel information they give on the greek islands, quite expensive, location (It is at the side of a highway, long long walk into town, they do pick ups and drop offs though). My friend and I stayed here in June 2006. We were told that if we wanted to go to the greek island of Ios the best way was to catch a bus down to Bodrum (4hrs) and go over to Kos and then from Kos there were direct ferries to Ios. We asked a few people at Atillas just to make sure. Everyone said this could be done, one lady even said she had done it! Well we got to Kos and guess what, ferries don't go to Ios from there, they never have. So our travel plans were completely stuffed up because of the wrong information the people at Atillas gave us. I was so angry especially because everyone had told us how knowledgeable the staff were! We ended up having to cancel all our greek islands plans and stay in turkey all because of some wrong information. So my advice is to not get travel advice from these people. "Our staff are well traveled and their knowledge is second to none! Our onsite Travel Shop can help you with any enquiry, whether it's booking flight tickets, buses or ferries to Greece, as well as any tours or activities you may wish to do." -- I don't think so. But yeah apart from that the actual place is good to stay at. — Cazz (2006-07-11)
