Good facilities, reasonable price. A little more expensive than small-town hostels, but you are a not-too-long walk from the Kölner Dom and have excellent facilities. During off season I got a private room for the price of a dorm. Excellent breakfast! Definitely recommend it.

Very clean, very well controlled for security. Breakfast was the most complete we found anywhere. Our stay was a bit pricey as we took the last room they had available, and it was a private double. Easy walk to all attractions, good all round choice for accommodations.

I thought this place was really great!! It was so modern and very comfortable. The bistro was great and the lobby was a good place to hang out, too. I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel and there was always someone to talk to. The reception was very good and if I ever got the chance to go to Germany again I would definitely choose this hostel because they did a great job hosting all the Torontonians for World Youth Day 2005!

The best hostel I've ever been. Great rooms, great facilities, private parking and fantastic public areas.

This was a very clean and new/renovated hostel! The rooms were not too big, but there is a bathroom (shower with sink and mirror) and a separate toilet with mirror. Very handy!! There is also a big closet for everybody in the room, which you can lock with your key.
The breakfast was very good; there was plenty of food and drinks. The youth hostel was very big and therefore not so very cozy. The hostel is not far from the center of Köln. You just have to walk over the bridge and you are in the center.

It's very clean, easy to get to, and near the Deutz station. Breakfast is good, the staff are helpful, and a double room for a single is 39.5 euros. It's in a quiet area, and the whole building is non-smoking, except in the bar (it's open 4 p.m. to midnight). The Internet is 4 euros per hour and it's very restrictive (you can't open any attachment or translate any page). An employee comes behind you and looks at your e-mails! Some days there are a lot of noisy kids. All the advertisements are in German, nothing in English. But it is ok. I stayed for nine days during the carnival days (Feb. 2005).

This hostel is very clean, with a great location near the train station, right across the river from the main place in Cologne. The bathroom was nice because it had one place with a sink and shower and one place with a sink and toilet, so two people could get ready. It was rather large. The place had a great reception, common area, breakfast, and bar, and there were late night snacks like pizza for cheap. The sheets were very clean, and the room was decent-sized. It had large lockers that locked individually and you got the key with your room.

This hostel was good and very warm with everything you need. The location was brilliant because they were many links around the city via train. The youth hostel provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner but I did not like the food. I would go back to the youth hostel because they had good facilities, including a warm shower, which is helpful during Christmas or wintertime in Germany. The hostel was quite close to the main locations of the city, the Christmas markets and the cathedral, etc.

I went here last December as part of school trip for the weekend, and I loved it! The showers are modern, the bedrooms are comfortable and the food is lovely. Internet access is available for a few euros and the staff are always helpful, even if your German is minimal. It's a good location, too, especially for Christmas markets and ice cream parlors. I hope to go back next summer.

Quite clean, but one staff member was not very friendly- he became angry and told me that I was lucky there was room for me because I had not made a reservation (at the beginning of May). The hostel was relatively empty. However, it was clean, quiet, and the breakfast was very good. HOT FOOD!! The location was great- a relatively short walk to most of the sights. I would go back.

Clean and comfortable. It's a little pricier than I usually pay and not in the greatest location, but it was a good hostel.

This place was a dump when I went in 2001. The doors to the rooms didn't open properly and the bathrooms were closed for the boys. It's also located directly across the street from a shady part bar, meaning drunk kids running around all the time.
