Quiet, friendly hostel in beautiful location I stopped at the hostel in Detmold for one night during a cycle trip in May 2010. The hostel is about 2km out of the city centre, and up a steep hill, but worth it for the beautiful, peaceful location. For a city dweller like me, it was a pleasure to be surrounded by fields and woods, and to hear the birds singing in the morning and evening. The staff were friendly and helped with everything I asked, and gave also useful information about the city. The bed was comfortable, rooms and showers clean, and I had a very good sleep after my long day. Breakfast was standard German fare -- lots of bread, cheese, cereal, and fruit. Although I was too tired to hang out, it seemed a pretty sociable hostel. The hostel seemed more geared up for families and people coming to enjoy the outdoors -- Detmold is a pretty quiet town. — Jim Hart , Netherlands (2010-05-25)
