Amazing!
Excelsior has an intimate, cozy, homey atmosphere -- it was absolutely amazing there. The facilities provide everything you need in terms of practical matters and the staff spent over an hour helping us sort out our road trip. They really think like a customer and are so cool! We had a blast, and the sundeck is such a cool touch. Sure, the bathrooms aren't heated, but any flaws are minor.

Sucks
The worst Hotel in the world, very noisy, and the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful.

There was nothing really wrong with New Excelsior -- it was an ok place to stay in a decent location. It was a bit cold though, particularly in the toilets in the night.

Our room was noisy and dirty and it was difficult to sleep due to the itching.

Nice hostel, with a very friendly staff and cool sun deck. But try to avoid the 12-bed dorm, which is separate from the rest of the building and accessed through it's own door onto the street.
